NCD and Department of Moral Guidance stress importance of drafting national strategy for social protection.

Tripoli, Director General of the National Council for Economic and Social Development, Mahmoud Al Futaisi and the Director of the Moral Guidance Department at the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Ayoub Qassem, stressed importance of the draft national strategy for social protection.

The council’s sources stated that the joint meeting that was held between the two sides comes as a result of the Prime Minister’s circular regarding directing the public institutions of the state that the council be the umbrella for projects and activities that fall under the concept of social protection.

Al-Futaisi clarified during the meeting the importance of the project, its general objectives, the target segments, and the proposed programs and activities for the themes (social assistance, social insurance, and the labour market).

For his part, Qassim expressed his thanks and appreciation for the Council’s initiative to pay attention to such projects, given the absence of a clear vision to support the vulnerable groups in Libya, and expressed his cooperation to support the project at this stage, because of its great importance to the members of the military institution.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed that there would be continuous communication to include the proposals and initiatives of the Chief of Staff, in the initial draft of the strategy for social protection by including some vulnerable groups related to the Chief of the General Staff and identifying some activities and programs supporting them.

The President of Niger receives the President of the Government of National Unity in Niamey.

Niamey, The President of Niger, “Mohamed Bazoum,” received, at the presidential palace in the capital, Niamey, this afternoon, Wednesday, the head of the government of national unity, “Abdelhamid Al-Dabaiba,” and his accompanying delegation, who began an official visit to Niger.

During the interview, which was attended by the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Niger, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, and the President of the Libyan Investment Authority, President Bazoum expressed his happiness with the Prime Minister’s participation in the “Made in Libya” exhibition held in Niger, which confirms the importance of Economic cooperation and support for the private sector between the two countries.

According to the media office of the prime minister, Bazoum affirmed his support for the efforts led by the UN envoy, Abdullah Batili, to reach elections in Libya, and his support for the efforts of the national unity government to achieve stability in the country and lead it to elections.

In turn, Al-Dabaiba stressed – according to the same source – that stability in Libya and Niger and the elimination of illegal immigration comes through economic cooperation and support for investment programs between the two countries.

The meeting dealt with a number of security files related to the stability of the south and the regulation of borders in coordination with a number of friendly countries, as well as coordination to support Libya’s efforts to complete the establishment of the African Investment Bank, one of the institutions of the African Union.

Aquila Saleh calls the House of Representatives for a session to discuss the general budget, and to name the members of the Committee for the Preparation of Elections Laws.

Benghazi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, “Aquila Saleh,” called on the members of the parliament for an official session next Monday, March 20, at the parliament’s headquarters in the city of Benghazi.

According to the invitation of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the session will be devoted to discussing the draft law of the state’s general budget for the year 2023 AD, and naming members of the joint committee to prepare draft election laws in accordance with Article (30) paragraph (b) of the thirteenth constitutional amendment.

Al-Manfi receives outcomes of Working Group dialogue on International Humanitarian Law for more than (500) Libyans.

Tripoli, The President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Manfi, received outcomes of the dialogues facilitated by the Working Group on International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights of the International Follow-up Committee on Libya, emanating from the Berlin Conference, for more than (500) Libyan participants from different segments of society.

This came during his reception of the group, consisting of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Libya, Dolf Hoekyoning and the director of the Department of Human Rights, Transitional Justice and the Rule of Law at the UN Mission to Libya, Ms. Soki Naqra.

The media office of the Head of the Presidential Council stated that Al-Manfi stressed during the meeting that the Presidential Council attaches the utmost importance to the issue of strengthening human rights situation in Libya and welcomes the efforts of the working group, which must be complementary to national efforts, and based on the foundations of participation and inclusiveness.

The office added that the Dutch ambassador and the director of the human rights department at the mission paid tribute to the efforts of the Presidency Council in order to achieve national reconciliation, which was launched through the convening of the preparatory forum for national reconciliation. The office also thanked the President for his personal efforts that led recently to the release of a number of prisoners.
