The French ambassador participates in the International Day of the Francophone Language, which was held at the University of Tripoli.

Tripoli, The Ambassador of France to Libya, Mustafa Maharaj, participated in the International Day of the French Language, “Francophone”, which was held today, Monday, at the Faculty of Languages at the University of Tripoli.

In a post on Twitter, Maharaj thanked the 25 professors of French at the Faculty of Languages who organized this event, and the 264 students at the University of Tripoli who are learning French, which opens the doors to linguistic pluralism for them.

UNESCO devoted March 20 of each year to celebrating the French language, as part of the United Nations’ efforts to raise the level of historical and cultural awareness and the achievements of all languages, and on the same day coincides with the celebration of the International Day of Francophonie.

The Continuing of meetings of the Libyan institutions with the International Monetary Fund.

Tunisia, The second meeting of Article 4 consultations of the International Monetary Fund agreement with the Central Bank of Libya and Libyan ministries and institutions was held today, Monday, in the Tunisian capital.

The Central Bank of Libya reported on its Facebook account that today’s meeting was held in the presence of the International Monetary Fund team, the Central Bank of Libya team, the ministries of finance, economy, planning, the Libyan Audit Bureau, the National Oil Corporation, and the Statistics and Census Authority.

The bank indicated that the meetings, which started last Saturday, aim to review the evaluation of economic, financial and trade policies, the development in the oil sector and the government’s vision for the next stage in diversifying the economy and maintaining financial sustainability and financial stability.

Peter Stano: Operation IRINI does not completely cover Libyan waters.

Brussels, A spokesman for the European External Action Service, Peter Stano, said that Operation IRINI does not completely cover Libyan waters, stressing that its ships patrol a specific area other than the one through which the main migration routes pass.

Stano explained, in press statements reported by the Italian news agency AKI, that Operation IRINI was created first and foremost to enforce the arms embargo on Libya, while combating human traffickers is a secondary objective.

Norland: valuable consultations with Algeria on the support of Libya’s neighbor for the political process.

Tripoli The American Special Envoy to Libya, Ambassador, Richard Norland, described his consultations with Algeria on how neighboring countries support the political process in Libya as very valuable consultations.

According to the US Embassy in Algeria on Twitter, Norland said, I discussed, Sunday, with Algerian officials the vision of the UN Envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, about a process that includes the main Libyan actors and institutions and civil society which depends on the progress made in the negotiations so far.

Norland stressed the need for new stimulus to hold the elections, and find a permanent political solution in Libya, expressing his aspiration for the continuation of consultations with Algeria on the situation in Libya.

German ambassador expresses admiration for diversity of Libyan civilization.

Tripoli, The German Ambassador to Libya, Michael Unmacht, expressed his admiration for the splendid and diversity of Libyan civilization, which is embodied in Libyan dress.

The German ambassador said, in a tweet that he posted on his Twitter account, with a picture of him wearing a Libyan dress; ‘Civilizational diversity in Libya and pride in identity is embodied in the Libyan dress, which is characterized by its unique shapes and colours, and this indicates the magnificence of the diversity of Libyan civilization’.

Al-Manqoush and Iranian Ambassador to Libya discuss relations between the two countries.

Tripoli The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Najla Al-Manqoush, met yesterday in Tripoli with the Iranian Ambassador to Libya, Mohamed Reza, and discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations, the activation of a joint economic committee between the two countries, and the arrangements for the return of the Iranian Embassy to start its work from Tripoli.

The SMS page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the meeting also discussed developments in regional and international issues.

Al-Manqoush reiterated Libya’s welcome to the return of Saudi- Iranian relations, describing it as a positive step, due to its benefit and importance for stability in the region.
