During her meeting with Al-Dabaiba.. Canada’s ambassador confirms her country’s support for Batili’s efforts regarding the elections.

Tripoli, March 7, 2023 (LANA) – The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hameed Al-Dabaiba, met today, Tuesday, with the Canadian Ambassador to Libya, “Isabelle Savard”, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, “Najla Al-Mangoush”.

During the meeting held in Tripoli, the ambassador affirmed her country’s support for the work of the UN envoy “Abdullah Batili” to advance international efforts to hold elections during the year 2023, and Canada’s desire to develop the relationship with Libya, according to the media office of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity.

For his part, Al-Dabaiba stressed the necessity of moving the work of the Canadian embassy to Tripoli, like most of the embassies that started their work from the capital.

During the meeting, Dabaiba also reviewed the efforts of the national unity government in implementing the elections and carrying out its tasks in this file. According to the media office.

Saleh and Richard Norlad are discussing ways to hold presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.

Benghazi, The Speaker of the House of Representatives, “Aqila Saleh,” discussed with the Special Envoy of the United States of America, “Richard Norland,” accompanied by the Chargé d’Affairs at the embassy, “Leslie Ordman,” the developments in the situation in Libya.

The meeting, which was held today, Tuesday, at the headquarters of the House of Representatives in the city of Benghazi, in the presence of the Director of the Office of Presidential Affairs in the Council, “Awad Al-Fitouri,” dealt with ways to hold presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible, according to what was stated by the official spokesman for the Council, “Abdullah Blehaq.”

“Saleh” said during the meeting that the House of Representatives has fulfilled all the necessary legislation to hold the presidential and parliamentary elections through the thirteenth constitutional amendment and the presidential and parliamentary election laws.

According to “Blehaq”, the Speaker of Parliament, “Aqila Saleh,” confirmed that there is no obstacle to holding the elections in terms of the necessary legislation to conduct them.

He also stressed the need for a unified government throughout the country to organize the elections, in addition to the readiness of the High National Elections Commission to conduct this national election.

Batili praises the role of the Presidential Council in supporting international efforts in Libya.

Tripoli, The President of the Presidential Council, “Mohammed Al-Manfi,” affirmed the Council’s support for all efforts made to reach parliamentary and presidential elections before the end of the year 2023, provided that they are based on national ownership.

This came during his meeting today, Tuesday, in Tripoli, with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, “Abdullah Batili,” according to what was published by the media office of the President of the Council on his official Facebook page.

During the meeting, Batili gave the President of the Presidential Council a full briefing on his recent meetings and talks on Libya, in addition to his recent briefing to the Security Council.

Batili stressed the importance of the role played by the Presidential Council in supporting the efforts of the United Nations in Libya, and reconciling all Libyan parties as a neutral body that stands at the same distance from all parties.
