Mayor of Tobruk reviews with UNICEF delegation problems facing the sectors in the municipality

Tobruk Mayor of Tobruk municipality , Faraj Bualkhatabieh, discussed with a delegation from UNICEF headed by ,Michele Servadi, the role of the international organizations affiliated with the United Nations in supporting the municipalities and finding out about their problems.

The two parts reviewed ,during the meeting that was held yesterday at the municipality’s office, the needs and difficulties facing sectors of health, education, children, immigration, and psychological support.

Bualkhatabieh stressed that any support by any organization must be through the municipality, as it is the only body familiar with the most prominent problems and obstacles facing these sectors.

The meeting was attended by member of the Executive Council, Abdel-Karim Boutabouneh, Undersecretary of the Municipal Court, Masoud Al-Wahrani, director of human resources in the municipality, Jad Al-Mawla Khalil, and director of the Legal Affairs Office, Abdulaziz Akram.

Bathily: all Libyan political actors must assume their roles in history and to not let the children of this country down

SirteUN Envoy to Libya Abdoulaye Bathily expressed his happiness with his meeting yesterday with a number of children in Sirte.

“Like the rest of Libya’s children, they deserve a safe and prosperous country full of opportunities, and I urge all Libyan political actors to consider their roles in history and not tolet the children of this country down, because they are the future of Libya,” Bathily said in a tweet.

This came after the end of the first day of meetings of the Joint Military Committee 5+5 in Sirte.

The correspondent of the Libyan News Agency in Sirte said, quoting a source, that the committee has followed up on the results of implementing its findings in its nine previous meetings, about the ceasefire agreement, the exit of mercenaries and foreign fighters from Libyan territory, and the file of the exchange of detainees between the two sides.

Meetings of JMC 5+5 continue in Sirte, in presence of Bathily

Sirte –The Joint Military Committee 5+5 “JMC” continued today, its tenth meeting at its permanent headquarters in Sirte, in the presence of Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya and Head of the UNSMIL, Abdoulaye Bathily, and his accompanying delegation.

The correspondent of the Libyan News Agency in Sirte, stated that the committee continues its meeting in closed sessions to discuss its findings in its previous meetings, especially about the continuation of the cease-fire, the exit of mercenaries and foreign fighters from Libyan territory, the exchange of detainees between the two parties, the work of international and local observers, and discussing the unification of the military institution, and to demand the relevant parties to support the implementation of the Geneva Convention with all its provisions.

The Turkish ambassador to Libya praises the role of the Electoral Commission in achieving the expected benefits

Tripoli- The Chairman of the Council of the High National Elections Commission, Imad Al-Sayeh, discussed today, Monday, with the Turkish Ambassador to Libya, “Kanaan Yilmaz,” ways to support proposals for the completion of the upcoming electoral events and support the international community for the Commission through supportive expertise in the field of management and implementation of the election.

This came during Al-Sayeh’s meeting with the Turkish ambassador and his accompanying delegation, who visited the UNHCR headquarters, according to what was published on the UNHCR website.

During the meeting, Yilmaz praised the efforts of the Commission in the stages of the electoral process that have been completed, stressing the renewal of support for his country’s government in order to achieve the expected electoral benefits.

The Joint Military Committee (5 + 5) concludes its tenth meeting in Sirte

Sirte– The Joint Military Committee (5 + 5) concluded today, Monday evening, its tenth meeting at its permanent headquarters in Sirte, under the auspices of the UN envoy, “Abdullah Batili” and his accompanying delegation.

The committee discussed in closed sessions over two days what it had reached in its previous meetings, especially with regard to establishing the continuation of the cease-fire, and the exit of mercenaries and foreign fighters from Libyan territory.

The (5 + 5) committee also discussed the exchange of detainees between the two parties, the work of international and local observers, the unification of the military institution, and the request of the relevant parties to support the implementation of the Geneva Convention with all its provisions.

The UN envoy said in a statement after the end of the meeting that the committee discussed issues related to neighboring countries, foreign forces and foreign mercenaries, and many decisions were taken, stressing moving forward and moving with neighboring countries, especially the southern region, the countries of Sudan, Chad and Niger.

He added, “We are determined to continue our support for this work and to facilitate the international community’s participation in this Libyan support,” noting that it was agreed to hold several meetings to implement the decisions of this committee.

The UN envoy revealed that he had met with a group of international and local ceasefire observers to discuss their work arrangements, and said, “The solution reached shows the level of work being done in Sirte, which is a positive point for this meeting.”

Batili called on the government to provide all facilities and support to the military committee in order to activate all the outputs of its work, support the security operation and maintain the ceasefire agreement.

He said that we have seen the determination and commitment of the Military Committee to work towards peace and stability in Libya, stressing that those soldiers who work towards the cause of their country and their people are the ones who represent the armed forces that should preserve the Libyan state.

The UN envoy expressed the hope that the commitment and insistence of the political parties as well as the military parties would be to get the country out of the way to preserve the unity of Libya and the integrity of its lands in order to reach the rebuilding of the Libyan state and get out of this crisis,

UN official visits Sirte, and attends part of the tenth meeting of the Committee (5 + 5)

Sirte- The Director of the Political Department – North Africa at the United Nations Department of Political Affairs, “Jacqueline Seck”, and her accompanying delegation, arrived this evening, Sunday, at Sirte International Airport, on a surprise visit to Sirte that was not announced.

The correspondent of the Libyan News Agency stated that the UN official, who immediately went to the headquarters of the Joint Military Committee (5 + 5), attended the closing session of the tenth meeting of the committee, which is held in the presence of the UN envoy, “Abdullah Batili.”
