Presidential Representative (Abdullah Al-Lafi) meets Vice President of the Republic of Turkey in Ankara.

The Deputy President of the Presidential Council, “Abdullah Al-Lafi” met today, Tuesday, in the Turkish capital (Ankara), with the Vice President of the Republic of Turkey, “Fouad Qatay”, to discuss the latest developments in the political situation in Libya, which confirmed the continued support of his country for the council’s efforts to achieve stability in Libya, leading to the holding of elections according to a constitutional basis agreed upon by all parties.

The Media Office of the Presidential Council stated that Representative “Al-Lafi” stressed during the meeting the continuation of the Council’s work to achieve permanent stability in Libya by mobilizing local and international support to achieve the dream of the Libyan people in establishing a democratic civil state.

Al-Mashri: I am ready to meet Aqila Saleh to discuss the outstanding points in the constitutional process.

The President of the Supreme Council of State, “Khaled Al-Mashri,” confirmed yesterday, Monday, his readiness to meet with the Speaker of Parliament, Aguila Saleh, at the invitation of the United Nations, to discuss the “suspending points” in the file of the constitutional track regulating the general elections.

Al-Mashri said in a letter addressed to the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations on Libya, Stephanie Williams, that he is “fully prepared to meet with Counselor Aguila Saleh, Speaker of the House of Representatives, to discuss the outstanding points in the constitutional path and seek to resolve them, and refer them to the two Houses to have the final word on them.”

“We hope that the meeting will take place inside Libya, and we suggest the city of Ghadames, because it is far from political polarization,” he added in the statement, which was published by the media office of the Supreme Council of State on its Facebook page.

It is noteworthy that the third and final round of negotiations of the joint committee of the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of State related to the constitutional process, concluded yesterday in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, but “differences remained regarding the measures organizing the transitional phase leading to the elections,” according to the UN mission in Libya.

Pashagha is visiting London to discuss his government’s roadmap.

Libyan Parliament-appointed Prime Minister Fathi Pashaga is visiting the British capital for talks with British officials on his government’s recovery roadmap.

“I have just arrived in the House of Commons for a full day of meetings, and I look forward to discussing the road map towards recovery that I have launched, with MPs in the UK – the road map for recovery – a Libyan-Libyan solution,” Fathi Pashaga said in remarks posted on his Twitter account.

Al Dabaiba discusses with Spanish Ambassador strengthening of bilateral relations in a number of economic and trade areas.

The head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Al Dabaiba on Tuesday received Spanish Ambassador to Libya Javier Larachi, to discuss relations between the two countries.

According to the Government’s Communication office, the meeting dealt with strengthening bilateral relations in a number of economic and commercial areas, and the role that the Embassy can play in developing these areas, and encouraging Spanish companies to return to work in Libya and participate in business activities.

Importance of consultation at the highest level in the political and security aspects was stressed at the meeting.

The meeting also touched on the Cairo meeting and the steps that will follow, where the Spanish Ambassador expressed his country’s readiness to provide assistance if Libya asked it to do so, stressing his country’s support for the efforts of the Government of National Unity in holding elections as soon as possible.
