Al-Mashri and EU Ambassador to Libya, stress need for consensus between High State and Parliament

Tripoli- The President of the High Council of State, Khaled Al-Mashri, received, Tuesday, in Tripoli, the Ambassador of the European Union Mission to Libya, Jose Sabadell.

According to the media office of the President of the High Council of State, during the meeting, the need for consensus between the State and Parliament on sound constitutional and legal foundations was stressed; as a prelude to reaching the electoral entitlements that all the Libyan people aspire to.

The Joint Military Committee (5+5) continues to hold its meetings in the Egyptian capital, Cairo

Rome- The Joint Military Committee (5 + 5) held a meeting today, Wednesday, in Cairo, after a series of meetings it held in Toledo and Tunisia in May and June, respectively.

The UN mission in Libya stated on its website that today’s meeting aims to continue discussing options for the full implementation of the comprehensive ceasefire agreement, and to coordinate efforts and arrangements for the withdrawal of foreign fighters and mercenaries.

The Ministry of the Interior forms a committee to investigate the clashes that took place in Tripoli last week

Tripoli- The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for District Affairs, Major General Bashir Al-Amin, said that the ministry has formed an investigation committee headed by a number of security and military leaders, to investigate the circumstances of the clashes that took place in the capital Tripoli last week to determine the legal responsibility and limit the damage caused.

Al-Amin confirmed in a press conference today, Wednesday, held at the Ministry’s office in Tripoli, that there were no deaths or serious injuries due to the clashes, indicating that the work of the committee and the results of the investigation would be referred to the judicial authorities and the higher official bodies for consideration and decision.

The Undersecretary added that all parties and components, whether military or security, were obligated in writing to strictly adhere to the rules and conditions for the use of weapons stipulated in the law and in accordance with the public interest.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior reiterated that the responsibility for security is a national and solidarity responsibility, and that all entities, regardless of their subordination and specialization, are fully and directly responsible for maintaining public security and stability.

The agent indicated that contacts were made with components, some of which belong to the Ministry of Interior, and other components belonging to other security agencies, some of which are affiliated with the army, to calm matters and exercise restraint.

He pointed out that it was agreed on a number of points, the most prominent of which is the prevention of fighting between the components for any reason whatsoever, resolving disputes by legal, legitimate or friendly methods, commitment to applying the law and not being drawn into unilateral decisions, in addition to preventing the acquisition or presence of any weapon that exceeds the gun, whatever the reasons are at the gates or concentrations inside the capital, provided that stop and search operations are assigned to the emergency and traffic police to prevent overcrowding.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior explained that one of the terms of the agreement is also to prevent indiscriminate shooting and intimidation of security for any reason, as well as preventing the movement of military and security convoys except in coordination with the Tripoli Security Directorate and adherence to the terms of the capital insurance plan and the commitment to centralize each party according to the elements of the plan.

The press conference was attended by the Director of the General Administration of Central Support, “Mohammed Fathallah”, and the Assistant for Security Affairs at the Tripoli Security Directorate, Brigadier General Ramadan Barbash.

Tripoli- The Drafting Committee emanating from the meetings of the Constitutional Path Committee held its meeting today in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to discuss Article 183, in which some paragraphs were amended regarding the implementation of the electoral process during the transitional period.

According to what was stated by Parliament Spokesman, “Abdullah Belhaq,” Article (100) related to the election of the president has been postponed until it is discussed with the constitutional process committee on Thursday.

Al-Manfi discusses with a member of the Dialogue Committee and the Minister of State for Economic Affairs the political situation in the country

Tripoli- The President of the Presidential Council, “Mohamed Al-Manfi”, a member of the Political Dialogue Committee, one of the wise men of Bani Walid, “Mohammed Al-Barghouti” and the Minister of State for Economic Affairs, “Salama Al-Ghawil” met to discuss the current political situation and a number of issues of public affairs.

During the meeting, which was held at the council’s office in Tripoli, Barghouti stressed that the state of political and security stability would give the country economic and social stability, and would enhance reconciliation and social peace in the country.

Pashagha stresses need reach an agreement on constitutional basis

Sirte- The Prime Minister-designate of the House of Representatives, Fatehi Pasha Gha stressed the need to reach an agreement on constitutional base.

This came as a meeting of Pasha Gha, Tuesday, with a number of members of the High Council of State in Sirte, in the presence of the two Deputy Prime Ministers, Khaled Al-Osta and Salem Al-Zadama, and a number of ministers. According to the media office of the Prime Minister on Facebook, the attendees discussed the developments of the political scene in the country, and stressed the need to reach an agreement regarding points of disagreement on the constitutional bases within the talks sponsored by the United Nations mission to Libya in Cairo.
