Ambassador of Qatar affirms his country’s support for Williams efforts to reach an agreement to hold elections

Tripoli, 12 June, 2022 (Lana) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Najla Al-Manqoush, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Libya, Khalid Al-Dossary, discussed ways to develop bilateral relations between the two countries and emphasized mutual interest in developing cooperation in all fields, in addition to the latest developments, political situation in Libya, and the efforts of the Government of National Unity to promote stability in the country.

During the meeting, the Ambassador of Qatar stressed the importance of strengthening the joint Libyan-Qatari relations and developing bonds of cooperation and partnership between the two countries, stressing his country’s support for the mediation efforts made by the Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Libya, Stephanie Williams, in order to reach an agreement that includes all political parties in order to achieve elections.

Ministry of economy discusses difficulties facing directorates work

Tripoli, 12 June 2022 (Lana) GNU Minister of economy and trade Mohammed Al-Haweij held yesterday a meeting that included directorates of economy and trade from eastern ,southern, and western regions ,municipal guard officials ,and the bakers syndicate.

The meeting discussed work of the directorates and how to overcome problems and obstacles facing them, and reviewed Cabinet decisions No.225 and 325 of 2022 ,about transferring the functions of the directorates to the Minister of Local Government and its impact in on the work of the directorates.

Al-Haweij called on the controllers of economy and trade to form a team to the west ,east ,and south to activate the role of the judicial control officers and to conduct legal calibration for all commercial and services activities in coordination with relevant authorities .

The meeting, which was held at the Ministry’s headquarters ,reviewed the decision by the Minister of Economy No.508 of 2022 which banned foreigners from engaging in all commercial activities and the need to follow up its implementation with relevant authorities

The participants stressed the need to enhance role of consumer protection ,combat commercial fraud ,follow up the local market and the flow of goods, determine the level of services, and to limit investment opportunities in all sectors to achieve economic diversification.
