The Maltese President, during his meeting with (Al-Manqoush), expresses the depth of relations between the two countries, and affirms his support for peace and stability efforts in Libya

Tripoli- The President of the Maltese Republic, “George Avila”, received at the “Grand Mastro Palace” today, Saturday, in Valletta, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, “Najla Al-Manqoush” and her accompanying delegation.

President “George Avila”, during his meeting with “Al-Manqoush”, expressed the depth of the historical relations between the two friendly countries, stressing his support for peace and stability efforts in Libya.

The Minister also met with her counterpart, Maltese Foreign Minister, “Ian Burg”, and the meeting dealt with the latest political developments in Libya and the region, and ways to enhance prospects for joint cooperation between the two friendly countries in several different fields, especially with regard to economic and humanitarian cooperation, including the file of combating illegal immigration.

During the meeting, Al-Manqoush said that Libya is facing a political crisis today and there are many challenges, but there is hope to reach a Libyan-Libyan political solution and a comprehensive dialogue between all parties that would lead the Libyans to the elections, especially since the mediation efforts made by the Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Libya, Stephanie Williams’ pursuit of the constitutional base is nearing completion.

The Minister extended her thanks and appreciation to the State of Malta, noting that Malta is a friendly and neighbor country that has a positive role in supporting peace, as we have close partnership relations, as Libya is one of the first countries to recognize Malta’s independence, and that these relations that bind us are based on friendship and mutual respect.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, “Najla Al-Manqoush” and her accompanying delegation, arrived earlier today in the Maltese capital, on an official visit at the invitation of the President of the Maltese Republic, “George Villa”, which comes as part of a commemoration of the historical Libyan-Maltese relations, which coincided with June 11, 1964.

Al-Manfi and the US ambassador to Libya discuss by phone the security situation in the country

Sirte- The President of the Presidential Council, “Mohamed Al-Manfi”, discussed by phone with the Ambassador of the United States of America to Libya, “Richard Norland”, ways to advance the political process in Libya, and the meetings of the constitutional track held in Cairo.

During the phone call that took place between them this afternoon, Saturday, it was emphasized the importance of the success of the members of the joint committee of the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of the State, in reaching a consensual formula, to achieve the aspirations of the Libyan people in conducting electoral benefits as soon as possible, as the only way to cross the state of stability and peace in country.

In the call, the security situation in the country, especially in the capital, was reviewed, and the importance of the commitment of all parties to calm and the interests of the country prevailing, according to what was published by the media office of the President of the Presidential Council on his official page.
