Istanbul, GNA Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Najla_Al-Mangoush took part on Friday in the ministerial meeting of the third Turkish-African Partnership Summit in Istanbul.

Addressing the meeting, Al-Mangoush expressed her thanks to the Republic of Turkey for hosting the Turkish-African Partnership Summit, and her appreciation of the efforts of the African Union Commission to promote the continent through important partnerships that reflect the aspirations of its peoples for a better life, stressing that Libya will spare no effort to make the summit a success.

Al-Mangoush stressed determination to continue the joint cooperation between the African Union and the Republic of Turkey in various political, economic and trade fields despite the current extraordinary circumstances that the world is going through due to the Covid 19 and its repercussions, difficult economic conditions and transformations experienced by many countries and peoples, noting that relations between the African Union and Turkey extended for many years through bilateral trade.

She also stressed that the cultural and social relations between the two sides are close, reaching their peak in 2008 when the African Union decided to adopt Turkey as a strategic partner.

The GNA Foreign Minister offered a glimpse into the course of relations and outcomes of the first summit in Istanbul in 2008 and the Malabo Summit in Tropical Guinea in 2014, where they emphasized mutual respect and mutual benefit in various fields. She considered that the African-Turkish partnership, as well as other partnerships, help create an environment conducive to investment and sustainable development that African peoples aspire to achieve through the implementation of the 2063 agenda.

The Foreign Minister stressed that the aspirations of the peoples are great and have the determination to overcome all challenges and difficulties in order to build a bright future, through economic partnerships based on mutual respect and mutual benefit in all fields.

At the end of her speech, Al-Mangoush said she of her African belonging, saying that Libya, which contributed to the founding of the Organization of African Unity and the African Union, will spare no effort to make the plans, programs and decisions to be adopted by this summit a success, and to implement the policies agreed on, to open up wider prospects for cooperation between the African and Turkish sides.

Tripoli, GNA Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Najla_Al-Mangoush met on Friday, on the sidelines of the Turkish-African Partnership Summit in Istanbul, with the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Expatriates Othman Al-Jarandi.

The meeting discussed upgrading bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, whereby the Al Mangoush briefed her Tunisian Counterpart on the latest developments in Libya, especially with regard to electoral entitlement.

Al-Jarandi stressed Tunisia’s support for the democratic path in Libya and said his country would stand alongside the Libyan people.
