Kupis stresses need to avoid politicizing of the National Oil Corporation to preserve its unity.

Tripoli, The Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Jan Kupis, voiced ‘deep concern over challenges facing the National Oil Corporation in the current period”, stressing the need to avoid politicization of this institution and to preserve its integrity and unity.

This came during a meeting that brought together the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation NOC Mustafa Sun’allah, and the UN envoy, on Tuesday in the capital, Tripoli.

According to a statement by the NOC on its SMS page the meeting, focused on “means of supporting the National Oil Corporation and its companies at all levels in order to be able to run the sector’s business and maintain sustainable production rates.”

Kupis stressed need for “avoiding the politicization of the institution and preserving its integrity and unity, noting that Libya’s natural resources should benefit all Libyans through transparent management, fair distribution of wealth and provision of public services.”

Meeting of Central Committee to follow up compensation for all cities and villages affected by war.

Tripoli, The Central Committee to follow up on compensation for all the cities and villages of the country affected by the war held an expanded meeting in Tripoli with the head and members of the Central Committee in charge of collecting and disbursing the compensation value from the Ministry of Housing and Construction.

The meeting, which was held under the chairmanship of Khaled Saeed Al-Barki, head of the Central Committee for Compensation Follow-up, and the participation of the head and members of the Central Committee in charge of collecting and disbursing the value of compensation from the Ministry of Housing, discussed ways to solve problems in some cities with regard to disbursing compensation to those who deserve it in the cities of Tawergha – Sirte – Al-Zawiya – Tripoli – Azizia – Zliten).

The committee decided to take stock of statements related to the damages in a number of cities and to refer them to the Financial Department as soon as possible to authorize disbursement.

Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Public Affairs discusses with Egyptian Ambassador Cooperation prospects.

Tripoli, The Ministry of Interior Undersecretary for Public Affairs, Major General Mahmoud Saeed met today at the Ministry of Interior in Tripoli with the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt Tamer Mustafa. The meeting was attended by the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Consular Affairs.

During the meeting, the situation of the Egyptian community in Libya and issues of bilateral concern, including security and the return of Egyptian workers to Libya, were discussed.

The Undersecretary highlighted the brotherly ties that links the two peoples in Libya and Egypt, and importance of joint cooperation.

Ministry of Local Government launches projects of a local nature designed to digital transformation, e-governance.

Tripoli, The Ministry of Local Government launched a system of projects of a local character within the projects of the Digital Transformation Programme and the Ministry’s plans to advance this sector and support projects in various municipalities.

The launch of the system was attended by the Ministry’s advisor for financial and economic affairs, director of the Office of Local Development and Projects, director of the digital transformation programme in the ministry, and a number of mayors of municipalities.

The system aims to improve the level of work of project offices in municipalities, facilitate the follow-up process for the completion stages, and reduce paperwork.

It is noteworthy that this step comes within the framework of the orientation of the Government of National Unity and the Ministry of Local Government towards digital transformation and the establishment of e-governance.

Minister of Interior and Head of UN Support Mission in Libya discuss developments on electoral process and security.

Tripoli, GNU Minister of Interior Khaled Mazen discussed Tuesday with the UN Special Envoy and Head of the Support Mission in Libya, Jan Kupis security situation and progress of the electoral process.

During the meeting, which was held at the Ministry’s office in Tripoli, the two sides discussed the strategic plan, as well as the work of the polling stations’ sub-rooms and the process of linking them to the main chamber, according to what was published on the official page of the Ministry.

The Interior Minister also reviewed with Kupis a number of security challenges that may hinder the conduct of the electoral process and the procedures followed on the matter, explaining that it is the responsibility of the Libyan people to make the elections successful and save them, which contributes to political stability and social reconciliation.

For his part, the Head of the UN mission highlighted the close partnership with the Ministry of Interior, pointing to the attention the international community is giving to this entitlement, and explaining that the United Nations will provide assistance to the Ministry to perform its full tasks, to ensure the protection and full access to fair elections.
