Lana political editor: A Read into the Paris Conference.

Tripoli, The Paris International Conference on Libya begins Friday in the French capital with a large international participation that the Elyse had rallied, most notably the attendance of Libya with a large official delegation including the President of the Presidential Council, the Head of the Government of National Unity, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the chairmen of the Committee (5+5), along with participation of the U.S. Vice President, the German Chancellor and many presidents and foreign ministers of countries, especially those that have been strongly engaged in the Libyan crisis-ridden scene for years, whether politically, militarily, or on the security and economic levels.

The Elyse’s organization of an international conference on Libya on November 12th comes a short while after an international ministerial conference to support Libya’s stability, which was held for the first time in the Libyan capital Tripoli, reinforcing the Libyan citizen’s optimism and ambition to return Libya’s sovereign decision to the interior, which has long been drawn and taken to foreign capitals according to foreign agendas far from Libyan national interests.

The hosting of this international conference on Libya by the French capital Paris also comes at a time that observers describe as extremely sensitive, especially since the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections are less than two months ahead of the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections, which Libyans and the international community are counting on, to move Libya from the transitional stages to the stage of a unified, stable and independent state with its sovereign national decision, the stage of security and construction in which the institutions of the unified state exercise their legislative, executive and judicial functions in order to save the country from the spectre of wars, division, and foreign interventions, in favor of full-time development, and the return to life.

Although the conference’s agenda announced by the French presidency is to focus on supporting the holding of elections, in conjunction with taking serious and decisive steps in the file of the removal of mercenaries and foreign fighters from the country, announced by France’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Nicolas de Riviere, the Paris conference aims to “demonstrate our continued support for the political process, particularly the organization of legislative and presidential elections, as well as for the full implementation of the ceasefire and, more broadly, to stabilize Libya, taking into account the regional repercussions of the Libyan crisis.

The Libyan people look forward to the Paris conference and its results with a keen eye, and whether it could be a push for the Libyan map and vision to support stability in Libya, first and foremost to contribute and help get mercenaries and foreign fighters out of Libyan territory, or merely to highlight a French role in the Libyan scene that the Elyse is looking for, after the success of the Berlin conferences (1 and 2) in establishing a ceasefire and paved the way for access to the unified Libyan authorities represented by a presidential council and a government of national unity, or It’s an attempt to counter widespread criticism from a wide range of French political forces for French foreign policies that have recently suffered setbacks, whether in Algeria, Chad, Niger or Mali.
