President of Presidency Council Underscores Need for Settlement of Situation of Administrative Number Holders.

Tripoli, President of Presidency Council met Head of Civil Registry Mohamed Betamar, to discuss issues concerning the authority and the mechanism adopted by it to address a number of issues.

The meeting which was held on Thursday dealt with the issue of granting Libyan nationality, the administrative number and also the sons and daughters of Libyan women married to non-Libyans.

The President of Presidency Council stressed importance for attention to be given to holders of the administrative number, calling for settlement of their situation, considering that granting the nationality should be subjected to strict measures in order for the rights of all to be preserved.

Al Mnefi renewed a call for Libyan women to be given their full rights in accordance with the law.

On his part the Head of the Civil Registry paid tribute to the Presidency Council for its effort to fulfill the future obligations political, economic and social, at such a delicate time which he said needs more attention to be paid to the Civil Registry work.

Emir of Qatar at Audience with Head of GNU Government: Qatar Reaffirms Support for Elections in Libya.

Doha, The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani has reaffirmed his country’s support for elections in Libya on the set time.

This came at an audience the Sheikh had with the Head of the Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba, who arrived in the Gulf state at the head of a delegation, which including the Foreign and Finance Ministers, the Governor of the Central Bank, the Head of Investment Authority as well as other high-ranking officials.

The meeting focused on political developments in Libya and upgrading of bilateral relations, as well as cooperation on joint programs including investments and reconstruction. The two sides also discussed utilizing Qatar’s expertise in building a new sports stadium.

The Head of the Government extended an invitation to Qatari Foreign Minister, to take part in the ‘Libya Stability Conference’ due later this month.

German Minister of State at the Foreign Ministry reaffirms his Country’s Commitment to UN Effort in Libya.

Berlin, President of the High Council of State Khalid Al Meshri met in the German capital Berlin the German Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Miguel Burger.

Burger tweeted after the meeting ‘at a constructive meeting with President of the High Council of State in Libya, we discussed the need for holding presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya on Dec. 24, as a subsequent and crucial step, with a German commitment to support UN efforts to achieve stability and peace in Libya.’

President discusses with President of Supreme Judicial Council preparations for upcoming elections, judicial and legal procedures.

Tripoli, President of Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Manfi, discussed, Thursday, with President of Supreme Judicial Council, Justice Mohamed Al-Hafi, files related to the preparations for the electoral process, and the accompanying judicial and legal procedures, in addition to many other important issues.

This is in the context of consultation, coordination and preparation for the next stage, and ways to overcome difficulties before judicial bodies and courts.

The President stressed, during the meeting, the importance of communicating with the judicial authorities, in order to contribute to transcending this important stage in the history of Libya. He further reaffirmed that the Libyans have no choice but to hold presidential and parliamentary elections.

He pointed out that the Presidential Council will continue to push for the implementation of its tasks, foremost of which is comprehensive national reconciliation, and the establishment of the electoral process on schedule.

Chairman of HNEC discusses with head of Security Agency preparations for upcoming elections.

Tripoli, Chairman of the Board of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Imad Al-Sayeh, met Thursday, with the head of the Internal Security Agency, Lotfi Al-Hariri.

During the meeting, which was attended by a number of directors of departments in the Internal Security Agency, they discussed cooperation in preparations for the upcoming elections on December 24.

Player charged with attempted murder after attacking referee

Sao Paulo, A Brazilian soccer player has been charged with attempted murder after he brutally kicked a referee in the head during a lower league game in the south of the country.

The player, William Ribeiro of Sport Club Sao Paulo, attacked the referee after he awarded a foul against him during a league game away to Guarani on Monday.

The game was halted 14 minutes into the second half while referee Rodrigo Crivellaro was taken to hospital. He was later released.

“I decided… to charge the lad with attempted murder because in my perception of the case he took the risk of (inflicting) a lethal outcome,” the officer in charge of the case told Brazilian portal UOL.

The attack took place on Sport Club Sao Paulo’s 113th anniversary, Reuters reports.

The club called the incident “one of the saddest in its history” and said it had summarily fired Ribeiro and was examining what further action it might take.

The small club from Rio Grande, a city of around 200,000 people approximately 320km south of the state capital Porto Alegre, play in the second division of the Rio Grande do Sul state championship.

Monday’s match was halted and restarted a day later with Guarani winning 1-0, the state football federation said.
