Britain Renews Support For UN Effort To Hold Elections On Set Time And Pull Out Of Mercenaries From Libya.

London, Britain has renewed support for efforts by the UN Support Mission in Libya aimed at holding elections on set time and pull out of mercenaries.

This came at a meeting the British Minister of Middle Eastern Affairs James Cleverly held with the UN Special Envoy to Libya Jan Kopis in London on Monday during which he reasserted his country support for holding elections on Dec. 24 and expulsion of foreign mercenaries from the country.

The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office said in a tweet ‘Britain fully supports efforts of the UN Support Mission in Libya to assist Libyans to ensure that Dec. 24 elections are conducted, and all foreign mercenaries and fighters expelled from the country and peace and stability in restored to the country.

US Acting Assistant Secretary Of State Demands End To All Foreign Interventions And Consolidation Of Ceasefire In Libya.

Tripoli, US Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs Joey Hood has called for a end to all foreign interventions and consolidation of ceasefire in libya.

In a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Najla Al Mangoush Hood stressed his country’s diplomatic participation in the Libyan business and its support for the Libyan people towards the main points agreed upon.

‘We have liaised with the Prime Minister positively and indeed with the Foreign Minister on how we support the Government and the conducting of free and fair elections without foreign intervention, Hood said.

U.S. Embassy: Joy Hood’s Visit To Libya Confirms Washington’s Support For The December 24 Elections.

Tripoli, The American Embassy in Libya said that Acting Assistant Secretary of State “Joey Hood” and Special Envoy to Libya “Richard Norland” confirmed Washington’s support for the Libyan elections in December 2021.

The embassy said in a statement today, Tuesday, that the visit of Acting Assistant Secretary of State Joey Hood and Special Envoy Richard Norland to Libya is of the highest level since 2014.

The statement added that “Hood” and “Norland” met with Prime Minister “Abdel Hamid Aldbaiba”, Minister of Foreign Affairs “Najla Al-Manqoush”, President of the Presidential Council Muhammad Almanfi, and President of the High National Elections Commission Imad Al-Sayeh to discuss areas of common interest, including reaching A comprehensive and negotiated Libyan-Libyan political solution to the conflict, facilitated by the United Nations, and full implementation of the Libyan ceasefire agreement reached on October 23.

Al Koni Explains Importance Of Opening Ghadamis And Ghat Border Crossing In Easing Suffering Of Border Areas Inhabitants.

Tripoli, A phone call was conducted on Monday between Member of the Presidency Council Musa Al Kone and Algerian Foreign Minister Sabri Bukadoum.

According to the Council’s Communication Office, Al Koni explained to Bukadoum importance of opening the border crossings of Ghadamis and Ghat to alleviate the suffering of residents of border areas on both sides.

The two sides also discussed possible convening of a joint ministerial meeting, and the businessmen forum from both countries, to discuss prospects of economic integration and activating the trade exchange through the border crossings.
