The US Energy Information Administration said Wednesday that crude oil and gasoline inventories in the United States rose last week, while distillate inventories fell.
The administration, which is the statistical arm of the US Department of Energy in its short-term energy estimates, said in a statement that crude inventories rose by 3.6 million barrels, reaching 460.7 million last week.
It added that crude oil stocks at the delivery center in Cushing, Oklahoma, decreased by 226 thousand barrels, while net US imports of crude oil increased by 65 thousand barrels per day.
The statement indicated that stocks of distillate products, which include diesel and heating oil, fell by 0.4 million barrels during the past week to reach 121.3 million, and crude consumption in refineries fell by 233 thousand barrels per day, and the refinery operating rate decreased by 1.3 percentage points, while gasoline stocks rose 2.7 million barrels to 233.9 million.
