Sixty Inspection Tours Conducted at Makkah and Madinah Slaughterhouses during Hajj Season

Mina: The National Center for Environmental Compliance (NCEC) said it had conducted 60 inspection tours of slaughterhouses in Makkah and Madinah during the Hajj season, until the first day of Tashreeq.

The tours showed that 11 slaughterhouses complied with environmental regulations.

NCEC’s continuous monitoring focuses on proper waste management, particularly solid waste like entrails and blood from sacrificial animals. Regulations require converting such waste into flour using specialized machinery before transferring it to incineration stations for high-temperature burning (between 1200 and 1300 degrees Celsius).

NCEC identified two key areas of concern during inspections: inadequate measures to prevent soil pollution and improper disposal of sacrificial animals waste in the surrounding environment.

Environmental violations are being referred to the Public Prosecution, which enforces Article 35 of the Environmental Law.
