Grand Mosque Makes Wellbeing of Elderly, People with Disabilities a Priority

Makkah: The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques makes the well-being of elderly people and people with disabilities a priority, offering them a range of services designed to ensure that they have a comfortable and dignified Hajj experience.

Upon arrival, golf carts transport the elderly and people with disabilities to and from the Grand Mosque gates. The Tanaqol app enables reservations of electric carts, to assist these people to perform the Hajj rituals.

Specially designated prayer areas cater to their needs; they are equipped with essentials like Zamzam water, copies of the Quran, and informational booklets.

The prayer areas also provide supportive aid, such as tools for dry ablution (tayammum), large font Quran copies for easier reading, canes for the visually impaired, and wheelchairs specifically designed for prayer.

Qualified sign language interpreters translate sermons, educational lectures, and recitations throughout the Grand Mosque.

During Tawaf, umbrellas are
readily available to shield pilgrims from sun rays, thus ensuring that they enjoy a safe and comfortable experience.
