Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, Qatari newspapers highlighted in their editorials Sunday HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s speech at the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh yesterday, which establishes for a new phase for the Arab-Islamic “action” required immediately to stop the brutal Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The Qatari dailies underlined that HH the Amir’s speech ensures the historical responsibility of everyone in this world regarding the crime that has been ongoing for 36th days consecutively in an area not exceeding 365 square kilometers, inhabited by 2.2 million Palestinians, in a gross violation of all humanitarian and moral norms, conventions and laws, most notably the Geneva Conventions.

Al-Raya underlined that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani embodied the pain of the Palestinian people and the brutal massacres they are subjected to in Gaza in his speech at the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit which was held in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on Saturday.

HH the Amir, with direct and strong words, addressed the conscience of the free world and the entire international community, expressing the tragedy of the Palestinian people who are being subjected to a genocide that is beyond human capacity, amidst the failure of the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities to stop these massacres and the aggressive war that Israel has been waging, Al-Raya stressed.

HH the Amir presented in his comprehensive speech a true picture of the ugliest war in history taking place in Gaza under the eyes of the world, where hospitals are openly bombed and entire families are erased from records as a result of the indiscriminate bombing of residential neighborhoods and refugee camps, in implementation of a satanic Israeli plan to wipe out the people of Gaza, whether by killing or forced displacement, Al-Raya added.

HH the Amir’s speech meets the magnitude of the Palestinian pain and the Arab wound. It indicated the responsibility of the Arab leadership at this precise and decisive time in the history of the Palestinian issue, and the political weight that Arab countries should have in the face of the Israeli massacres and crimes. HH the Amir stressed that difference over this or that issue should not be a justification for disagreement over taking a firm stance vis-a-vis the ongoing crime in Gaza, the paper noted.

In the face of Israeli intransigence, placing obstacles and conditions to deliver aid to the affected and afflicted, and using that aid as a means of pressure and political blackmail, HH the Amir stressed the need for aid reaching all parts of Gaza Strip, Al-Raya said.

Qatari daily Al-Arab said that the visits paid by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to the United Arab Emirates and Egypt with the aim of coordinating influential and effective Arab positions and make efforts to stop the aggression and genocide against the Palestinian people and the people of Gaza, HH the Amir took part in the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit which was held in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on Saturday to find solutions and mechanisms for the catastrophic crisis experienced by the people of Gaza Strip, and to unify the capabilities and strategic visions to stop this aggressive war practiced by the Israeli occupation.

HH the Amir’s speech was the mouthpiece of the Arab and Islamic peoples. Peoples are fed up with statements of condemnation and denunciation of the continuing Israeli crimes against Palestine and the Arabs, and are demanding “action”. This was affirmed clearly by HH the Amir in his speech when he said that denunciation is not enough and called for taking deterrent steps to stop the ongoing war crime in Gaza, Al-Arab said.

HH the Amir noted the international community’s failure to shoulder its legal and moral responsibilities, wondering “how long will the international community continue to treat Israel as if it is above international law, and how long will it be condoned to flout all international laws in its brutal, never-ending war on the country’s indigenous population?” The paper referred to HH the Amir’s pointing to a noticeable increase in the levels of immunity among some countries to the bombing of hospitals and shelters, and this strength of immunity is only against our Palestinian brothers.

Al-Arab wondered why did the West gave a blind eye to the tragedy of Palestine and the collective punishment practiced by Israel in Gaza? Why do they support Israel with all those weapons, equipment and ammunition as if the civilians in Gaza were the ones who killed, attacked, and occupied Israeli lands? Why did the moral standards fail and the governments of Europe and America do not seek to stop that unjust war against the Palestinian people? Are they not human beings that do have the rights to live and have a safe life, and the right to build an independent homeland liberated from the Israeli occupier? In conclusion, Al-Arab underlined that the State of Qatar is unflinching in its historical position in support of the steadfastness of the brotherly Palestinian people and their just cause. Qatar continues with partners in the region and the international community t stop the war, protect the civilians and provide humanitarian aid. (MORE)
