Jeddah, The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud has sent a cable of congratulations to Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin on the anniversary of his country’s Victory Day.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques wished the president continued good health and happiness, and the government and people of the Russian Federation steady progress and prosperity.

Meteorology Department Warns of Thundery Rain, Strong Wind, High Sea

Doha: Weather inshore until 6:00 pm on Thursday will see scattered clouds with a chance of thundery rain at southern areas at first, relatively hot daytime with slight dust to blowing dust at places, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report, warning of expected thundery rain at southern areas at first/ strong wind and poor horizontal visibility expected at places.

Offshore, it will be partly cloudy with a chance of scattered rain at places, becomes some clouds later, the report added, warning of strong wind and high sea.

Wind inshore will be northwesterly – northerly 15 – 25 KT, gusting to 35 KT at times at places.

Offshore, it will be northwesterly – northerly 18 – 28 KT, gusting to 35 KT.

Visibility inshore will be 4 – 9 km / 2 km or less at places at times. Offshore will be 4 – 9 km.

Sea state inshore will be 3 – 5 ft. Offshore, it will be 5 – 9 ft, rises to 12 ft.

Traffic Department Opens Awareness Exhibition Marking Arab Traffic Week

Doha: The General Directorate of Traffic on Thursday opened awareness exhibition to mark the Arab Traffic Week.

Acting Director of Traffic Safety Department, Brigadier Jamal Mohammed A Shraim, and Assistant Director of Traffic Awareness Department Colonel Jaber Mohammed Odaiba along with a lineup of Ministry of Interior officers and stakeholders attended the opening ceremony.

Colonel Jaber Mohammed Odaiba affirmed the General Directorate of Traffic’s keenness to annually participate with Arab traffic systems in marking Arab Traffic Week with the aim of raising traffic awareness and communicating with all road users.

Through its comprehensive awareness plan, the General Directorate of Traffic eyes establishing a culture of safe driving, through direct communication with all social groups with the aim of providing them with sufficient information about traffic rules and etiquette in order to achieve the highest levels of road safety.

The Exhibition features participation of Civil Defense; Ministry of Interi
or’s Medical Service Department; Juvenile Police Department; Hamad Trauma and Emergency Centre; Ambulance Service; Karwa Academy; and Al Khebra Driving Academy.

The exhibition highlights the safety tools that must be available when driving a vehicle, the basics of first aid in cases of traffic accidents, the requirements for technical inspection of vehicles, ambulance service procedures, and driving school procedures, in addition to many awareness messages aimed at introducing traffic safety rules and requirements.
