France to Pursue Reforms to Close Budget Deficit, Attal Says


Paris, France is counting on further reforms such as the overhaul of unemployment insurance to bring the budget deficit under control, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal said in the wake of SandP Global Ratings’ decision to lower the nation’s credit rating.

President Emmanuel Macron brought the deficit below 3% of gross domestic product early in his first term thanks to reforms that he pursued and can do so again, Attal said Sunday in an interview on France 3 television.

Legal Affairs Minister meets ninth intake of Prime Minister’s Programme


Manama, Yousif bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, Minister of Legal Affairs, met with the ninth intake of the Prime Minister’s Fellowship Programme.

The minister emphasised the role of the programme in developing the capabilities and leadership skills of government cadres, in line with the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the vision of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The minister briefed the fellows on the developed mechanism for preparing, submitting and reviewing government legislation to meet the goals of the Government Plan (2023 – 2026), and Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

BDF wins third place in International Sniper Competition


Ankara, The Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) team won third place, for the second consecutive year, in the International Sniper Competition, which was held in Trkiye.

The competition started on May 20, with the participation of 28 international teams.

Social Development Minister receives RHF Secretary General


Manama, Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al Asfoor, Minister of Social Development, received Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Secretary General of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF).

The meeting reviewed RHF’s efforts, particularly the Netaj Khair Al Bahrain project, which aims to support Bahraini craftsmen and small businesses.

The minister thanked the foundation for its efforts in supporting families registered with the foundation, in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the honorary president of the Foundation. He also commended the support and follow up of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, and Chairman of the foundation’s board of trustees, for the programmes and efforts of the foundation.

Islamic Affairs Ministry Allocates Corner to Receive Pilgrims through Salwa Port


Dammam, The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, represented by its branch in the Eastern Region, has designated a specific area to welcome pilgrims arriving from Qatar via the Salwa border crossing.

The branch has stated that this area is equipped with all the necessary resources to assist pilgrims, including informational materials explaining the rituals of Hajj, prayers and supplications, booklets, brochures, and support for the “Rushd” application. The “Rushd” application provides various services such as the Holy Qur’an, an electronic library supporting 52 languages, prayer times, and the Qibla direction. Additionally, pilgrims will receive gifts such as sun umbrellas and bags.

The branch has also assigned official preachers to educate and guide pilgrims, addressing their questions and inquiries regarding all aspects of Hajj. This service includes providing scientific lessons three times a day for each preacher in the mosques and prayer areas of Salwa to explain the rituals and timings of
the Hajj.

These preparations in the Eastern Region reflect the Ministry’s commitment to promoting the Hajj goals among pilgrims, honoring the rituals, and showcasing the significant efforts made by the Kingdom in serving the Two Holy Mosques.

3 People Killed, 25 Injured in Eastern China Explosion

Three people were killed and 25 others were injured on Friday, as a result of an explosion that occurred in a parking garage in Jiangxi Province, eastern China.

According to the Chinese Xinhua News Agency, the explosion occurred in a garage on the road in Jinshan town, Shangli Province, causing the collapse of a residential building, noting that all the injured were taken to the hospital to receive treatment.

The causes of the explosion were not immediately known, and investigations are still underway.

Last April, three people were killed and 10 others were injured as a result of a fire that broke out in a nursing home in Guangdong Province, southern China.
