Saudi Olympic Committee Celebrates 2024 World Olympic Day


Riyadh: The Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC), in collaboration with the Saudi Olympic Academy, celebrated the 2024 World Olympic Day on Sunday. The celebration coincides with the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on June 23 each year and is celebrated by 206 Olympic committees worldwide. The event took place at the Ministry of Sports Hall in the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Olympic Complex in Riyadh.

The event was attended by the SOPC Vice President, Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, and the French Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ludovic Pouille, along with various sports federations, committees, and associations. It included the practice of various sports such as archery, table tennis, badminton, cycling, camel racing, judo, handball, rowing, basketball, weightlifting, lacrosse, and boccia.

Meanwhile, Prince Fahd bin Jalawi honored several Olympic and Paralympic athletes who participated in the accompanying panel discussion, as well as the participating
organizations. The French ambassador expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the SOPC for inviting him to participate in the event, wishing success to all Saudi athletes who will compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Saudi Arabia Wins 6 Awards at 24th Arab Radio, TV Festival in Tunisia


Tunis: The 24th edition of the Arab Radio and Television Festival, held in Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, has come to a close. The festival was organized by the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) in collaboration with the Tunisian Radio and Television Establishment and ArabSat.

President of ASBU and CEO of the Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA) Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Harthi awarded the winners of the 24th edition. The SBA achieved four radio and TV awards, including the second prize in the health programs category for the “Mental Health: Violence in Schools’ program.

In the TV category, Saudi Arabia won three awards, including the second prize in the news category for talk shows, honoring the Saudi street program on its episode about Vision 2030. The first prize in the general documentary films and programs category went to “Heritage in the Maqam of Hijaz.” Additionally, the Saudi social drama series ‘Al-Arbaji 2’ secured the second position in the social series category.

Furthermore, the SBA was awarded
the second prize in the 2024 news exchange competition and the second prize in the 2024 program exchange competition. Meanwhile, the festival honored the judging panels for its radio and television competitions and distributed the exchange awards.

The festival also featured the TV and radio program market and the ASBU Exhibition, where member institutions, private TV and radio networks, and production companies showcased their latest media, artistic, and cultural productions.

The Kingdom’s pavilion at the fair, held in the Korean capital from June 26 to 30, witnessed a significant turnout from the Korean audience, making it the most visited pavilion. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about Saudi culture, arts, and heritage, enjoying a comprehensive cultural experience with the pavilion showcasing the intellectual and cultural aspects of the Kingdom.

Led by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, the pavilion featured the participation of various Saudi cultural entities, including the Heritage Commission, the Fashion Commission, the Culinary Arts Commission, the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives, the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, the King Abdulaziz Public Library, the King Fahd National Library, the Publishing Association, and the Ministry of Investment.

Foreign Ministry Holds a Seminar Titled ‘The Role of Women in Diplomatic Work’


Riyadh: In the implementation of the directive of Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a seminar titled “The Role of Women in Diplomatic Work” at Prince Saud Al-Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies today to celebrate the International Day of Women in Diplomacy. The seminar was held in the presence of Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji.

Eng. El-Khereiji delivered a speech at the seminar, emphasizing the importance of women’s presence in the diplomatic corps. He highlighted the significant progress made in empowering women in various fields in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince as part of the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030. He also noted the increasing role of Saudi women as ambassadors, leaders in international organizations, negotiators, and diplomats representing the country in foreign missio
ns. The seminar focused on women’s diplomatic work experiences, achievements, opportunities, and challenges.

The seminar was attended by Saudi Ambassador to Sweden Enass Alshahwan; Deputy Chief of Mission of the United States Embassy to the Kingdom Alison Dilworth; Deputy Chief of Mission of the Australian Embassy to the Kingdom Kim Ralston; and Deputy Chief of Mission of the United Kingdom Embassy to the Kingdom Dr. Alice Burt.

Several ambassadors of countries accredited to the Kingdom, members of the diplomatic corps, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and representatives of several government agencies also attended the seminar.

Vice Foreign Minister Receives Chinese Ambassador


Riyadh: Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji received at the ministry in Riyadh today Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Chang Hua.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations, ways to promote and strengthen them in all fields, latest developments and topics of mutual interest.
