Qatar Museums Offers Vibrant Activities During July

Doha: 27 June 2024 Qatar Museums (QM) announced a vibrant lineup of activities and events in store for the month of July, featuring summer camps, arts and crafts workshops, museum tours, storytelling sessions, and a Family Day.

The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) will host various programmes throughout July, including a summer camp, digital workshops, and a tour of the AI Centre.

The Summer Camp “Wealth of Qatar” (for ages 8 to 10) will run from July 1 to 3, in addition to two workshops; Design for Games (for ages 11 to 18) on July 7 and 9 and Chatbot (for ages 12 to 18) on July 18 and 25. NMoQ will also host a tour in the AI Centre on July 11.

Qatar Museums’ Archeology and Heritage department will host summer camps titled Artefacts Workshop for children on July 8 and for adults on July 10. The programs will be held at Fahd Bin Ali Palace.

The Arab Museum of Modern Art will host workshops on animation and story/book production, including ‘Beyond the Frame: Youth Animation Workshop’ on 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10
, 11, 13 July and a workshop titled ‘Let’s Make Books and Stories’ on July 15 and 17.

Meanwhile, the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) will host storytelling sessions, various art workshops for children and adults, and a Family Day activity. The ‘Story Time at MIA Library’ will be held on July 1, and the workshop titled ‘An Artist’s Adventure’ (for ages 5 to 7) on July 6, while the ‘Family Day Activity: Wood’ will be held on July 13. The workshop ‘Watercolour Painting’ will be held on July 20, and the ‘Creative Work by Arabic Calligraphy’ workshop will be held on the 24th of the same month.

Dadu, Children’s Museum of Qatar will host a summer camp at the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, titled ‘Explore Health, Wellness, and the Environment’ (for ages 8 to 11) on June 30and July 1.

Al-Ahsa Clinches Deputy Head Position at UNESCO Creative Cities Network in Crafts, Folk Arts Field


Al-Ahsa: Represented by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shabith, Al-Ahsa won the position of deputy head of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in crafts and folk arts, a field that currently encompasses 66 cities from around the world.

This feat comes after Al-Ahsa became a member of the network in the creative field, following an initiative by Al-Ahsa Municipality in 2015.

This success is supported by national entities, represented by the municipality; Al-Ahsa Governorate; the Culinary Arts Commission; the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science; the Heritage Commission; and the Royal Institute for Traditional Arts.

Al-Ahsa stands out for the unique creative assets it possesses and its cultural heritage and deep history in the field of handicrafts and folk arts.

Al-Ahsa has worked on developing the general objectives of integrating and highlighting the connection between education and cultural and creative activities to enhance the sustainability of handicrafts and folk arts.

Over the past years, Al
-Ahsa has shared expertise in preserving handicrafts and folk arts with creative cities worldwide through numerous international meetings and conferences in South Korea, Poland, France, the United States, Australia, and Brazil.

Al-Ahsa became the first Gulf city and the third in the Arab world to join the network in the creative field. It has achieved close cooperation in development programs among creative cities, with a focus on sustainable development and heritage preservation.

Moreover, Al-Ahsa strives for exchanging experiences and fostering integration among member cities.

BDC award ceremony recognises 28 national projects

Manama, Ali Bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, attended the Bahrain Digital Content Award (BDC Award) ceremony, held by the Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH).

The event was organised in partnership with WorkSmart Events Management Company and sponsored by BENEFIT Bahrain, Atyaf eSolutions, BCFC, Gulf Future Business Company, ThinkSmart, Etisalcom, in addition to B4BH as the exclusive media partner.

The ceremony was attended by leaders and innovators in the digital entrepreneurship and innovation sectors.

The award recognised 28 national digital projects across eight categories. International Parliamentarians Call for Ensuring Women’s Participation in Combating Terrorism, Preventing Extremism

Doha: International parliamentarians called for the importance of working to ensure womens participation in combating terrorism and preventing violent extremism, and identifying the challenges and solutions necessary to increase their parliamentary representation in security and defense committees, in addition to supporting capacity building that women parliamentarians need in policies to combat terrorism and extremism and its legislation.

They said in statements to Qatar News Agency , on the sidelines of the second day of the Sixth Global Conference for Women Parliamentarians held in Doha, that the conference discussed enhancing the participation of women parliamentarians in formulating and implementing policies and legislation, the importance of exchanging experiences and good practices between female parliamentarians from different countries of the world, and the necessity of promoting awareness and education about the importance of womens role in combating terrorism and preventing extremism.

text, HE Secretary-General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly Dr. Mohammad Reza Majidi, expressed his deep appreciation to the State of Qatar for hosting the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office in Doha, and for organizing this conference that discusses the role of women parliamentarians, hoping that this regional and international conference will contribute to Increase the role of women parliamentarians, and make them more effective.

Vice Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Abdullfattah bin Sulieman Mushaat emphasized the ministry’s commitment to achieving excellence through collaboration with all partners and sectors. The focus is on enhancing the private sector’s services and prioritizing the comfort and safety of the visitors and pilgrims to the Two Holy Mosques. Cooperation between the ministry and Umrah companies and institutions is vital to ensure high-quality services for pilgrims worldwide.

The meeting aimed to strengthen the partnership with the private sector and align with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals. Shura Council Deputy Speaker Meets Parliamentary Leaders on Sidelines of 6th Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians in Doha

Doha: HE Shura Council Deputy Speaker, Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti held separate meetings with a number of parliamentarians participating in the 6th Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians, which concluded in Doha on Thursday.

Her Excellency met with HE Head of the Womens Committee, the Senate of Jordan, Khawla Al Armouti; HE Deputy Speaker of the Tunisian Parliament, Sawsen Mabrouk, who is also Vice President of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States; HE Deputy Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives, Nadia Tahami; and HE Member of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, Dr. Malahat Ibrahimgizi.

Her Excellency also met with HE Secretary-General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) Mohammad Reza Majidi; HE Secretary-General of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Siti Rozaimeriyanty; HE Member of the Italian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Susanna Donatella Campione and
HE President of the Bureau of Women Parliamentarians at the Inter-Parliamentary Union and Member of the Congress of Mexico Cynthia L?pez Castro.

The meetings focused on the role of women in policies and legislation, and the importance of enhancing their participation in decision-making at the national and international levels.

The most important topics included in the conference were also addressed, related to the development, implementation and monitoring of legislation and policies that enhance women’s rights and protect them from all forms of violence and discrimination.

HE Al Sulaiti highlighted during the meetings the State of Qatar’s firm position on supporting the Palestinian people, and its efforts to stop the aggression on the Gaza Strip, reviewing the efforts of the Shura Council in this context.

Her Excellency pointed out the importance of international cooperation in achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region, stressing the Council’s commitment to working with international parliam
entary organizations and unions to promote human rights and combat terrorism and extremism.

Her Excellency also touched on the State of Qatar’s adoption of preventive diplomacy as a way to prevent wars and conflicts, reviewing the country’s efforts and mediation to resolve disputes peacefully.

In a related context, HE Al Sulaiti met with HE Officer in Charge (OiC) of the Special Projects and Innovation Branch (SPIB) of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) Guadalupe Megre. The meeting discussed the cooperation efforts between the Shura Council and the UNOCT Program Office on Parliamentary Engagement in Preventing and Countering Terrorism.

Megre praised the efforts of the Shura Council in enhancing parliamentary activities in the field of counter-terrorism, which enhances international peace and security.
