Bahrain Pilgrimage Mission Chairman Hajj tour operators in Mina


Makkah, Shaikh Adnan bin Abdulla Al Qattan, Chairman of the Bahrain Pilgrimage Mission, visited Bahraini Hajj tour operators in Mina for follow up.

Al Qattan congratulated the pilgrims and personnel of the tour operators on Eid Al Adha and for performing Hajj. He lauded the efforts of the tour operators’ personnel in organising a seamless Hajj journey for pilgrims.

Bahrain soars to 21st globally in IMD’s World Competitiveness Ranking, 1st Globally in 12 Indicators, Top 10 in 75 Sub-Indicators


Manama, The Kingdom of Bahrain has achieved a remarkable leap of nine places to secure the twenty first position in the 2024 World Competitiveness Ranking published by the World Competitiveness Center – Institute of Management Development (IMD). This significant advancement since its 2022 debut highlights the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment in developing its ecosystem that accelerates growth and enhances its unique competitive advantages.

According to the latest report, the Kingdom of Bahrain ranks first globally in 12 indicators and is in the global top 10 across 75 indicators. This outstanding performance spans diverse sectors, from the adaptability of government policy to effective public-private partnerships driving technological advancement.

Osama Saleh Alalawi, the Undersecretary of National Economy at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, commented on Bahrain’s latest achievement: ‘The Kingdom of Bahrain has put in place the catalysts needed for a strong and competitive economy. With effect
ive partnerships and an enabling environment following the best international practices, Bahrain will continue in developing a competitive economy that puts human capital at the heart of each policy, initiative, and strategy.’

IMD’s World Competitiveness Ranking emphasised Bahrain’s key features that create an effective launchpad for development. This includes the adaptability of government policy, where Bahrain ranked eighth globally. The Kingdom’s capacity to foster productive partnerships with the private sector was also a significant strength, ranking eighth globally in Public-Private Partnerships.

The financial sector, a cornerstone of Bahrain’s diversified economy, saw several relevant indicators in the top 10 global ranks including Banking and Financial Services (ninth globally), and Central Bank Policy (sixth globally).

Bahrain’s achievements underscore its strategic focus on human capital development, with its workforce recognised for its exceptional skill, adaptability, and productivity. Bahraini
s remain the primary driving force behind key national achievements with an international impact, as reflected in the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking. The Kingdom ranked fourth globally in the availability of a Skilled Labor force, and sixth in Finance, Digital/Technological, and language skills. Bahrain’s labour force has also been recognised for its flexibility and adaptability, ranking second globally in this area. These features contribute to heightened productivity levels, with Bahrain ranking ninth globally in Workforce Productivity.

Bahrain’s continued positive trajectory in the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking results from wise leadership, careful planning, and a shared commitment exemplified by the TeamBahrain spirit. Pilgrims cast stones at Jamarat on second day of Tashreeq


Mina, on the second day of Tashreeq, pilgrims completed the ritual of casting stones at the Jamarat, which entails throwing pebbles at three pillars, starting with Jamarat Al Oula (the small pillar), continuing with Jamarat Al-Wusta (the middle pillar) and finishing with Jamarat Al Aqaba (the large pillar).

Pilgrims then proceeded to the Grand Mosque to perform the Farewell Tawaf (circumambulation), SPA reported.

Authorities ensured smooth movement throughout the day, facilitating pilgrims’ access to the Jamarat Bridge for stoning, for returning to their Mina residences, and while heading to Makkah if in a hurry for the Farewell Tawaf.

Bahrain Hajj Mission announces return of pilgrims


Makkah, Dr. Mohammed Taher Al Qattan, Deputy Head of Bahrain Hajj Mission, announced that the first batch of pilgrims from Bahrain is preparing to depart from Makkah and return to the Kingdom after completing Hajj rituals.

Al Qattan said that the mission has collaborated with the relevant authorities at Bahrain International Airport and the King Fahad Causeway Authority to facilitate the return of pilgrims.

The mission and relevant authorities have also established special routes for pilgrims to follow upon departure and return, Al Qattan added.

Al Qattan thanked Bahrain International Airport and the King Fahad Causeway Authority for their efforts in serving the pilgrims. He also thanked Gulf Air for their efforts in serving pilgrims upon their departure and return.

NIHR President welcomes royal pardon


Manama, Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), welcomed the decree issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa pardoning 545 inmates, on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

Al Derazi said that the decree aims to enhance the principles of justice and rule of law, in line with the comprehensive development process, led by HM the King.

Al Derazi emphasised that the royal pardon reflects HM the King’s commitment to fostering the spirit of tolerance, unity, and social cohesion.

UAE advances 3 places, ranking 7th globally in 2024 World Competitiveness Report


Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, said that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and through the dedicated efforts of its people, continues to improve its standing each year, achieving higher ranks across various global competitiveness indicators.

According to Emirates News Agency (WAM), HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said that in one of the most important global competitiveness reports issued by the International Institute for Management Development in Switzerland, the UAE moved up three places, reaching seventh place globally. The UAE is also among the top ten globally in more than 90 key and sub-indicators in the 2024 World Competitiveness Report.

“Our thanks and appreciation go to all the teams in the government, economic, and development sectors who work with one spirit to achieve a single goal: the progress of the United Arab Emirates,’ HH added.

Building on last year’s ac
hievement of entering the top 10, the UAE made a notable leap in the 2024 World Competitiveness Report, advancing three positions to 7th place worldwide, ahead of Norway, Iceland, Japan, Canada, and Finland.

The UAE performed exceptionally across various pillars of the report, ranking 2nd globally in Economic Performance, 4th in Government Efficiency, and 10th in Business Efficiency.

The World Competitiveness Report classifies the countries based on four main pillars and 20 sub-pillars encompassing 336 competitive indicators across various economic, administrative, and social fields, including government efficiency, education, and innovation. In this year’s report, the UAE advanced in all four main pillars.

The UAE ranked among the top 10 globally in over 90 key and sub-indicators. The UAE ranked 1st globally in 11 indicators including industrial disputes, the labour force (%), employment (%), and household consumption expenditure- real growth.

The UAE secured 2nd place globally in 9 indicators, including
tourism receipts, females in parliament, labour force growth, adaptability of government policy, and absence of bureaucracy.

The UAE ranked 3rd globally in 6 indicators including collected capital and property taxes, immigration laws, management of cities and percentage of government budget surplus.

The UAE also achieved 4th place in 12 indicators including consumer price inflation, long-term unemployment, international experience, overall productivity (ppp), labour regulation, and the balance of commercial services and employment in the public sector.

The UAE also achieved 5th place in 13 indicators including GDP (PPP) per capita, quality of air transportation, energy infrastructure, graduates in sciences, start-up procedures, unemployment legislation, foreign highly-skilled personnel, national culture, unemployment rate, and tax evasion.
