Earthquake of Magnitude 4.5 Strikes Peru

Lima, A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck west of Atico in Peru on Monday.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake’s epicenter was located 54 kilometers from Atico and had a depth of 10 kilometers.

As of now, there have been no reports of casualties or significant damage resulting from the earthquake.

Peru experiences at least 400 noticeable earthquakes annually due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a major area of seismic activity that stretches along the western coast of the Americas.

Madinah Bus Service Resumes for Eid Al-Adha


Madinah, The Madinah Bus Project, overseen by the Madinah Region Development Authority, resumes operation today, the second day of Eid Al-Adha. The service offers convenient transportation options for beneficiaries along six routes, encompassing 102 stops across key roads and main arteries within the city.

Pilgrims cast stones at Jamarat on first day of Tashreeq

Mina, On the second day of Eid Al-Adha, the first day of Tashreeq, pilgrims in Mina embarked on the ritual of throwing stones at the Jamarat, which entails throwing pebbles at three pillars, starting with Jamarat Al Oula (the small pillar), continuing with Jamarat Al Wusta (the middle pillar) and finally Jamarat Al Aqaba (the large pillar), following in the footsteps of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

Multiple pathways were designated across the various floors of the Jamarat facility to ensure a smooth flow of pilgrims and manage the crowd. This innovative, multi-level structure was engineered to distribute pilgrims efficiently during the throwing ritual, SPA reported.

Pedestrian bridges connect the Jamarat to the Al Mashaaer Al Mugaddassah Metro Line and surrounding pilgrim camps in Mina, facilitating safe and convenient movement.

Ministry of Interior Concludes Participation in Hajj Media Hub Exhibition


Mina: The Ministry of Interior concluded its participation in the Hajj Media Hub exhibition, hosted by the Ministry of Media in Makkah from June 10 to 16, 2024.

Visitors to the ministry’s pavilion learned about Hajj regulations and instructions, the ministry’s use of AI to manage Hajj crowds, and its efforts to maintain the security and safety of pilgrims visiting the two holy mosques.

They were also informed about the Makkah Route Initiative, part of the Pilgrim Experience Program under Saudi Vision 2030, which streamlines the travel procedures for pilgrims, including at designated airports in several countries. This year marked the sixth successful year of the initiative, and operated at 11 airport halls.

Information on penalties for violating Hajj regulations, including performing Hajj without a permit and transporting unauthorized individuals, was presented at the ministry’s pavilion, as well as information on how to report emergencies on the security operations center number 911, and the Absher ele
ctronic platform services.

Visitors interviewed said they were impressed by the Ministry of Interior’s digital transformation efforts, which aim to improve pilgrim services during the Hajj season 1445 AH.

The focus on utilizing technology aligns with Vision 2030 goal of harnessing innovation for security work and crowd management.
