Oil Minister meets Weatherford International President


Manama, Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, met with Girish K. Saligram, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Weatherford.

Mark Thomas, Group CEO of Bapco Energy, attended the meeting.

The minister highlighted the role of international companies specialised in the energy sector in developing the contributions of this vital sector to support the economy, praising Weatherford International for its expertise, modern technology, and pioneering projects and services in the energy sector.

Saligram emphasised the company’s commitment to supporting and developing the energy sector to achieve its goals in current and future activities.

Labour Minister participates in 112th International Labour Conference


Geneva, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour, headed Bahrain’s delegation at the 112th International Labour Conference, held in Switzerland.

In a statement, the minister underscored Bahrain’s commitment to participating annually in the meeting, which serves as a global platform for the three production parties.

The meeting discussed significant labour concerns and addressed labour market challenges.

Humaidan highlighted the Kingdom’s successful labour market development efforts, which serve as a global model, particularly as Bahrain’s national legislation aligns with international labour standards.

The conference discussed the report by Gilbert Houngbo, Director-General of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), emphasising the importance of social justice and social contract renewal, aligning with ILO guidelines on social justice and social dialogue.

Derasat, AGU sign MoC


Manama, A memorandum of cooperation was signed today by Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) and the Arabian Gulf University (AGU).

The MoU was signed by Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Chairman of Derasat Board of Trustees, and Dr. Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, the President of the AGU. It aims to further enhance partnership between the centre and the AGU in scientific research and innovation, focusing on energy and artificial intelligence applications.

Director-General of Verdicts Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing visits Correction and Rehabilitation Center in Egypt


Cairo, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, The Director-General of Verdicts Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, took a tour on the 10th of Ramadan Correction and Rehabilitation Centre in Egypt, where he met Major-General Hazem Ezz Al Arab, the Assistant Minister of Interior for the Community Protection Sector.

The two sides discussed topics of common interest and highlighted the centre’s various activities to enhance the skills of inmates.

The director-general visited the centre’s buildings, including training workshops, farms, and factories equipped with the latest technology.

He lauded the Egyptian Interior Ministry’s efforts to provide the best services and programmes for inmates to rehabilitate and integrate into society.

He welcomed cooperation and the exchange of expertise between the two countries.
