Minister of Labor Meets Counterparts Participating in Doha Dialogue on Labor Mobility

Doha: HE Minister of Labour Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri met today with several of his counterparts participating in the Doha Dialogue on labour mobility between the Gulf states and African countries, held in Doha on May 21-22, with the participation of 33 countries representing the Gulf Cooperation Council states, Jordan, Lebanon, and 25 African countries.

HE the Minister of Labour met with HE Minister of Labour of the Republic of Lebanon Dr. Mustafa Hussein Biriem, HE Minister of Manpower of the Arab Republic of Egypt Hassan Mohammed Hassan Shehata, HE Minister of Labour, Youth, Employment, and Persons with Disabilities of the Republic of Tanzania Deogratius Yohana, HE Minister of Labour of the Republic of Djibouti Omar Amad Saeed, HE Minister of Labour and Rehabilitation of Libya Ali Al Abd Al Razzaq Abu Azzoum, HE Minister of Economic Integration, Micro-Enterprise, Employment, and Skills of the Kingdom of Morocco Younes Sekkouri Yehsou, and HE Minister of Labour of South Sudan James Hoth Mai.

During the
meetings, discussions focused on the cooperative relationships in the labour sector and ways to enhance and develop them.

Qatar Chairs 27th Meeting of GCC Information Ministers

Doha: Their Excellencies Ministers of Information of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries held their 27th meeting in Doha on Thursday.

HE Chairperson of Qatar Media Corporation Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al-Thani chaired the meeting which brought together Their Excellences Information Ministers in the GCC countries along with HE GCC Assistant Secretary-General for Economic and Development Affairs Khalid bin Ali Al Sunaidi.

In his opening speech, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al-Thani said that for over seven months, the tragic events and conditions experienced by the residents of the Gaza Strip have become the top priorities of media outlets and platforms. He added that although Israel directly and deliberately targets media workers to silence those who report the truth, double standards and bias prevailed the global media coverage of those events, to influence shaping global public opinion.

His Excellency underlined the importance of coordination between joint Gulf media efforts to work on publishing a
nd broadcasting Palestinian content in various languages, to build international public opinion supportive of legitimate Palestinian issues and rights, which was emphasized by the 159th Ministerial Meeting of the GCC States, which was recently held in Riyadh.

His Excellency pointed out that the different challenges facing Gulf societies are imposed by the internal, regional or international environment, pointing that these challenges place on the those responsible for media, the burden of improving the performance and content of various media outlets to reflect the aspirations and interests of Gulf societies, keep pace with the rapid regional and international developments, and contribute to achieving greater integration and unity among the Gulf countries, in a way that translates the vision and directions of Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC countries.

HE Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer added that emphasis must be put on the GCC joint media cooperation strategy 2023-2030, the general framework
of which was approved by the 43rd session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council. He expressed hope to raise the level of integration and coherence in GCC media work in order to achieve a common Gulf media vision.

For his part, HE Khalid bin Ali Al Sunaidi expressed thanks to the State of Qatar for supporting the process of joint Gulf action, especially in the field of media.

He also congratulated the attendees on the forty-third anniversary of the founding of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which falls on May 25.

HE Al Sunaidi reviewed the most important topics to be discussed at the meeting, which would work to develop and enhance cooperation between the GCC countries in the field of media.

Their Excellencies the Ministers of Information of the GCC countries discussed a number of topics pertaining to joint media cooperation between the Gulf countries, including the enactment of regulatory controls for electronic commercial advertising mechanisms on social media sites and platforms in membe
r states.

The meeting also stressed the necessity of preparing an awareness-raising media plan that includes protecting morals, socialization, and instilling Gulf values and identity, in addition to creating a digital initiative on digital safety for children in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

Minister of State for International Cooperation Meets Norway’s Minister for International Development

HE Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater met on Thursday in Oslo with HE Minister for International Development of the Kingdom of Norway Anne Beathe Tvinnereim.

During the meeting, they discussed cooperation relations between the two countries, especially in the development field. They also discussed the developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories and Afghanistan.

HE the Minister of State for International Cooperation voiced the State of Qatar’s appreciation for the recognition of the State of Palestine by the Kingdom of Norway, considering it an important step to achieve peace in the region.

The meeting was attended by HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Sweden Nadia bint Ahmad Al Sheebi.

Saudi Film ‘Noura’ Screened at Cannes Film Festival


Jeddah, The Red Sea Fund of the Red Sea Film Foundation today screened the Saudi film ‘Noura’ at the Un Certain Regard, ‘a certain look,’ section of the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival, making it the first Saudi film to be on the official list of the world’s most prestigious film gathering.

Noura was supported by the Red Sea Fund and was filmed entirely in the city of art and history, AlUla, located in the northwest of the Kingdom, with 40% of its crew being Saudis, demonstrating the great support that the film industry enjoys.

The film, which has received international distribution, is scheduled to premiere in Saudi and international theaters on June 20, 2024.

Saudi Transport Minister Holds Talks with Uzbek Counterpart, ITF Chief


Leipzig, Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh Al-Jasser held a meeting with International Transport Forum (ITF) Secretary General Young Tae Kim during an event held in the German city of Leipzig.

The meeting focused on various topics related to the ITF’s activities and also addressed Saudi Arabia’s sustainable transportation initiatives.

Additionally, Al-Jasser met with Uzbekistan Transport Minister Ilhom Mahkamov, discussing avenues for enhancing cooperation in air transportation.

Saudi, Austrian Foreign Ministers Discuss Bolstering Relations

Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, met today with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Austria, Alexander Schallenberg, currently visiting Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, they reviewed the relations between the two countries and ways to bolster them to serve the common interests. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern.
