Minister of State for International Cooperation Meets Sweden’s Minister of Foreign Affairs

HE Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater met Thursday in Stockholm with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden Tobias Billstrom.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations and ways to support and enhance them, and discussed developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, and cooperation between the two countries in providing aid to Afghanistan.

HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden expressed his country’s appreciation for the continued mediation of the State of Qatar to reunite children and families that were separated due to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

The meeting was attended by E Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of Sweden Nadia bint Ahmad Al Sheebi.

Assistant Director of Police Academy’s Research Center to QNA: Winning Sharjah Award Reflects Advancement of Research in the State

Doha: Assistant Director of the Security Research and Studies Center at the Police Academy Major Dr. Khalifa Ahmed Buhashim Al Sayed confirmed that the Center’s first-place win in the Institutional Level category of the Sharjah Police Sciences Academy Award for Scientific Research in 2023 reflects the advancement of scientific research in the country, driven by the leadership’s emphasis on research and innovation.

In a statement to the Qatar News Agency , he said that this victory was the result of several factors, most importantly the support for research efforts at the national level, which is reflected in the research work at this center under the Ministry of Interiors Police Academy.

Dr. Al Sayed added that encouraging researchers, providing them with all the necessary means to excel, well-prepared competitions both technically and organizationally, overcoming research challenges, teamwork, continuous and fruitful cooperation among the research team members, and the competence and exceptional abilities
of the researchers, all contributed to this victory.

At a ceremony held in Sharjah yesterday, the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Center for Security Research and Studies at the Police Academy, received the first-place award in the institutional level category of the Sharjah Police Sciences Academy Award for Scientific Research in 2023. The Security Research and Studies Center won the award for a research that tackled security data and knowledge management in the digital environment and its role in developing the efficiency of security performance.

Dr. Al Sayed highlighted the nature of the winning research, stating that it is a descriptive, analytical, and survey study aiming to uncover modern trends in data and security knowledge management in the digital environment and their role in improving security performance efficiency, as well as identifying the challenges facing this process. He noted that the research used questionnaires as a tool to collect data to understand the ability of the Police
Academy staff at the Ministry of Interior to manage data in the digital environment, and to reveal how it helps them perform their tasks and enhance the efficiency of security performance at the Academy. He emphasized the importance of the winning research, particularly in understanding the impact of data and security knowledge management in the digital environment on the efficiency of security performance, especially given the lack of similar studies addressing the dimensions of implicit and explicit security knowledge management on security performance efficiency. He also pointed out that the importance of data and security knowledge management is growing in light of the rapid changes in the digital environment and the various challenges faced by security agencies. He also highlighted the significance of data and security knowledge management as a practical foundation for achieving leadership in the security field and its scientific importance in enriching the Arabic library in general and the Gulf library
in particular with studies related to data and security knowledge management and security performance efficiency.

Al Sayed mentioned that this is not the first time the Center has won a research competition. The Center previously won first place in the Arab world for the Prince Nayef Award for Arab Security. He also said that the Sharjah police academy’s award is the second time for the center.

Regarding the general importance of scientific research in supporting security work, he explained that scientific research helps study emerging criminal phenomena, identify their causes, and facilitate the formulation of plans to reduce them, providing decision-makers with a real vision of the studied topics.

He also pointed out the importance of scientific research in the security field for anticipating security phenomena, which helps in finding proactive solutions, studying the security work environment, identifying ways to improve it, and enhancing the efficiency of security work.

Minister of Education and Higher Education Hails Khebrat Program’s Outcomes

Doha: HE Minister of Education and Higher Education, Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, hailed the outcomes of the Qatari Teachers Fellowship Program (Khebrat).

This came at a ceremony honoring the first batch of the training program, which was launched in 2023 by the MoEHE and offered 15 Qatari public school teachers a professional development program in Finland, where they learned about the educational experience there over a period of two months, and acquired educational skills that they applied in the classroom after their return.

HE the Minister said the impact of this distinguished experience will include the rest of the schools, hundreds of students and dozens of teachers, stressing that the idea of the program is to share experiences and promote lifelong learning.

She added that the projects that the teachers presented in the exhibition accompanying the honoring ceremony demonstrated their critical thinking and analysis skills and conveying them to the students.

Her Excellency voiced hopes the
program would expand in content, numbers, and specializations.

During the ceremony, Director of the Training and Development Center at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Iman Al Mohannadi spoke during a panel about the phases, implementation and results of Khebrat program and its importance in terms of investing in the human resources, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.

Al Mohannadi added the Ministry was preparing to open registration for the second batch of the program. The current specializations of the program are science, mathematics, and English, with a plan to expand them to include Arabic and Islamic education.

The honoring ceremony was attended by HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, along with a number of senior ministry officials.

Google Begins Making AI Photo Editing Features Available to Everyone

Google begun making photo editing features based on artificial intelligence (AI) available in more devices running the Android system, after they were exclusive only to the Pixel 8 phones that the company launched last year.

Google provides a number of features within the Google One subscription, as users will be able to access them for free; subject to specific restrictions. The company allows only 10 photos to be edited per month using the “Magic Editor” for free, after which users must subscribe to the Google One Premium package to use these features without restrictions.

The “Magic Editor” allows users to delete parts of the image, easily change the size of images, in addition to editing and enhancing video clips based on AI, with a set of other tools such as the “Magic Eraser” to remove unwanted people or elements from images, and ” Noise Remover” to improve blurry images, and other options to enhance colors, cloud shape, background blur, and lighting adjustment.

It is recommended to download the Goog
le Photos application, or update it to the latest available version, in order to verify the availability of these new features.

Google had previously announced its intention to offer these features to more devices running the Android system, in addition to iPhones and iPads, without specifying which devices, or how long the company will take to make these features available.

Quranic Botanical Garden Participates in UNESCO Biodiversity Conference in Cairo

The Quranic Botanical Garden, a member of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), an affiliate of Qatar Foundation (QF), has participated in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) conference, which was held at its regional office in Cairo, as part of the celebration of World Biological Diversity Day.

The garden’s participation focused on strengthening the role of botanical gardens in the Arab region and their role in preserving biocultural diversity.

It reviewed its various programs dedicated to preserving plant resources in Qatar, and the strategy used for conservation inside and outside natural habitats.

It also organized an exhibition on biological diversity in the State of Qatar, which featured herbal samples of Qatari wild plants and some plants mentioned in the Holy Quran and the noble Prophets (PBUH) hadiths.

This participation comes within the Quranic Botanical Gardens endeavor to contribute to preserving biodiversity and natural heritage in Qatar and the region
, and to enhance awareness of the importance of botanical gardens as a tool for sustainable development.

Qatar Museums Presents Diverse Program in Art and Culture in June

Doha: Qatar Museums presents a schedule full of new activities and events during the coming weeks, as part of the continuing role of museums in enriching the countrys cultural scene.

The museum tours, which will be held at various institutions affiliated with Qatar Museums, include arts and crafts workshops, open day events, musical events, and storytelling sessions.

Among these events, the Qatar Creative Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the fields of fashion, design and technology is organizing two embroidery workshops. The first will be held to teach adults the art of traditional Palestinian embroidery on May 28, while the second will be allocated to adolescents and will be held on Jun. 1, exploring the distinctive history of Palestinian embroidery and its techniques that tell stories about the identity and resilience of Gazas women.

During the month of June, the Museum of Islamic Art will offer a variety of artistic workshops, storytelling sessions, and a family day organized monthly, in a
ddition to activities for children, the most prominent of which is a workshop to be held on June 5 to introduce the history of the museums most important collections of Islamic carpets and a musical evening to be held. In the museums lobby, with a live performance by the Doha Band, and on June 6, an event (escape room) will be organized and held in cooperation with Virginia Commonwealth University, where the room will explore different aspects of Islamic sciences. Participants will also learn through the rooms about calligraphy, Islamic sciences and inventions, and science, Astronomy, preserving Islamic art objects, uncovering hidden knowledge, and unraveling mysteries along the way will take place every Tuesday and Thursday until September 2, 2024.

The Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum (1-2-3) will host a number of activities during the next month, including events around the sports of hockey and taekwondo, an open day event for families, an event before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympics, and a story-telli
ng session for children, in addition to celebrating World Olympic Day on Jun. 23, 2024, which features an exciting day full of activities centered around Olympic values such as respect, friendship and self-confidence.

The Qatar Photo Festival “Tasweer” will host two lectures in June at the Fire Station Cinema, in the Fire Station, at the Artists Headquarters, one of which is titled “We Are Humans” by Sami Al Rumayyan, a member of the jury, in which he discusses his journey in documentary photography in the humanitarian field, which culminated in him obtaining the Humanitarian Photography Grant.

The Qatar National Museum organizes many activities throughout the month of June, including storytelling sessions, guided tours, and workshops held every Sunday and Tuesday morning, through which children can explore the picturesque nature and collect its unique treasures, from tree leaves to wood sticks and rocks.
