Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday that Moscows offensive in Ukraines northeastern Kharkiv region aims to create a buffer zone amid the war that has been dragging on between the two countries since February 2022.

Addressing a press conference upon wrapping up his trip to Beijing, China, the Russian President blamed Ukrainian authorities for the Russian operation in Kharkiv in retaliation for pounding Russian territories, pointing out that Russia achieves daily successes in Kharkiv.

Putin added that officials in Ukraine cannot realize that inflicting a strategic defeat upon Russia is not something they are capable of adding that it was time to understand who Russia’s adversary is, and how to trust and deal with it.

The Israeli occupation launched an airstrike Friday on a civilian vehicle in Najariya town south of Lebanon which resulted in killing one person.

Israeli fighter aircraft launched a series of airstrikes on Najariya and Al Adawsiyah towns in Sidon District, killing one person and causing several injuries, while ambulance vehicles immediately rushed to the two towns, field sources told Qatar News Agency .

The Israeli entity continues to step up its offensive on towns and villages in southern Lebanon concurrently with its wanton aggression on the Gaza Strip.

North Korea on Friday denounced a plan by South Korea and the United States to stage their joint annual military drills in August, warning that they could face a “catastrophic aftermath” if they carry out the exercise.

The Ulchi Freedom Shield (UFS) by Seoul and Washington is a “nuclear attack exercise” against Pyongyang that will involve state-of-the-art military equipment, including nuclear strategic assets, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

In December 2023, South Korea and the US agreed to hold a discussion-based exercise simulating North Korea’s use of a nuclear weapon in conjunction with the UFS. It would mark the first time such training takes place.

In a separate KCNA dispatch, the North also denounced the latest joint air combat drills between advanced South Korean and US stealth fighters, South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reported.

Al-Udayn District in Ibb Governorate received the second batch of cement from the Central Development Interventions Unit to support the concrete paving project for the main street in the center of the district.
