Ibb University in short film competition


Ibb University Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Abu Lahoum, reviewed the filming work for the short film ‘The End of Table,’ which is being prepared by a group of students from Computer and Information Technology Center at the university.



The production of the film comes in preparation for the university students’ participation in the competitive artistic competition between Yemeni universities for short films.

Al-Menfi receives French President’s Special Envoy.

The President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, received yesterday at the council’s headquarters the French President’s Special Envoy, Paul Soler, in the presence of Ambassador Mostafa Mihraje.

Soler stressed France’s commitment to the need for a continuing stability state in Libya and its support for Al-Menfi in all his steps to address political impasse and hold the elections in a suitable environment in which all Libyans are participating, according to the council’s communication office.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries in all areas, in addition to France’s support for the High Finance Committee to achieve disclosure and transparency standards, rationalization of spending, and fairness in the use of financial resources to implement development projects.

For his part, Al-Menfi affirmed France’s pivotal role in the Libyan issue and its unlimited support for the council’s work in order to hold free, fair, and transparent elections as soon as possible.

Hajjah Red Crescent association discusses performance


The Yemeni northwestern governorate of Hajjah on Sunday hosted a meeting to discuss performance of the Red Crescent Society’s provincial office.



Chaired by Governor Hilal al-Sowfi, the meeting reviewed aspects pertaining to the ICRC-funded project of building a health center in Abs district.



The meeting highlighted the need for urgent provision of strategic stock in the Red Crescent stores in Hajjah City.



The governorate is willing to smoothen all the difficulties faced by the Red Crescent, Governor Sowfi said, hailing the activities carried out by the Society in many districts.

Bathily meets with French President’s Special Envoy.Discussing advancement of higher education in Hajjah

The UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, met yesterday with the French President’s Special Envoy, Paul Soler, and the French Ambassador to Libya, Mostafa Mihraje.

Bathily and Soler discussed the political, security, and economic situation in Libya, ways to support Libyans in reaching a political agreement leading to unified institutions and the holding of elections, and developments in the national reconciliation process and reconstruction efforts in eastern Libya.

‘We agreed on the need for Libya’s regional and international partners to fulfill their duty in facilitating a durable solution that ends the status quo and prevents Libya from sliding into another protracted conflict, which might put Libya’s territorial integrity at high risk,’ Bathily said in a tweet.

They also reviewed the national reconciliation process and reconstruction efforts in eastern Libya, stressing the need for a unified approach that prioritizes the needs of the affected population and en
joys the trust and support of all, including international partners.

A meeting in Hajjah governorate, headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, discussed ways to improve higher education in the governorate.



The meeting touched on practical visions and perceptions that would achieve qualitative educational outcomes capable of advancing the education process in its various components.

Yemeni Olympic Committee to elect sportsmen subcommittee


The Yemeni Olympic Committee (YOC) next Thursday will hold the fifth round of sportsmen subcommittee elections.



YOC secretary-general, Mohamed al-Ahjori, on Sunday met with candidates for the subcommittee chairman and members, to discuss latest arrangement for the upcoming elections.



Under international and local regulations governing the YOC, candidates should have participated in at least one of the latest three rounds of Olympic games, Sowfi told the candidates.



The meeting set next Thursday for the subcommittee elections, that will take place in the Olympic center in Sana’a City.

Launch of second Digital Financial Consumer Forum tomorrow in Sanaa


The second digital financial consumer forum, organized by the Yemeni Society for Consumer Protection in partnership with the Central Bank of Yemen, will begin tomorrow in Sanaa for three days.



The president of the association, Fadl Mansour, explained in a statement to Saba that the forum will discuss working papers on the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence in the financial services sector and its impact on the consumer, with the participation of an elite group of experts, decision-makers, representatives of the financial and banking sector, and international participation via electrical circuits and the Internet.



He pointed out that the forum aims to discuss artificial intelligence techniques and its role in developing and improving the quality of digital financial services and to highlight the role of the financial sector and its trends towards raising the efficiency and level of quality of digital financial services.



Mansour considered the forum an opportunity to exchange experiences and learn about the best experiences and modern technologies through presentations and discussion sessions that will be enriched by a number of experts and specialists in the financial sector, which would develop and enhance the capabilities of financial institutions to develop, grow, and benefit from artificial intelligence technologies.



He noted the importance of developing and improving the quality of digital financial services and their role in expanding the scope of digital financial use and gaining consumer confidence
