The House of Representatives declares the city of Zliten a disaster zone


Benghazi: Today, Monday, the House of Representatives declared the city of Zliten a disaster city and decided to allocate a sum of money to confront the crisis of the high groundwater level in the city of Zliten.

The Council – in the session held today, Monday, at its headquarters in the city of Benghazi, headed by First Representative ‘Fawzi Al-Nuwairi’ – assigned the government assigned by the House of Representatives to follow up on the situation in the city.

Tripoli: Today, Monday, the representative of the Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni, discussed with the president and members of the Sons of the South Gathering residing in Tripoli the activation of the Development of the South, the reconstruction of the city of Murzuq, and the establishment of an economic zone to invest its wealth.

The Council’s media office stated that the people of the south expressed their dissatisfaction with the government’s turning a blind eye to the south, which suffers from a low level of services in many areas. They pointed to the city of Murzuq and the urgent need to reconstruct it and resume work on suspended projects in all its regions.

The delegation praised Al-Koni’s efforts in support of the development of the south, the reconstruction of the city of Murzuq, and the return of its displaced persons. They called for the necessity of activating the South’s Development Authority, intensifying efforts to unite ranks for its development and reconstruction, and establishing an eco
nomic zone to invest its wealth, stressing the need to pay attention to the cultural identity of the people of Fezzan, preserving it from being obliterated, and unifying the media discourse to convey to public opinion the suffering of the South, which suffers the repercussions of the political conflict.

In turn, the representative of the Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni, explained that he, along with the representatives and ministers of the South, is following up on the issue of development of Fezzan, and the reconstruction of the city of Murzuq so that it gets its share of reconstruction similar to the cities of Benghazi and Derna.

He affirmed his support for the development proposals and action plans reviewed by the delegation, stressing the need to work to implement them on the ground to develop the south and ensure its stability, so that it becomes a destination for investors in all fields, which will contribute to the recovery of transit trade with neighboring countries.

During the meeting, it was a
greed to hold a forum that includes a number of specialized experts in many fields with representatives of the South in Parliament, the State Council, and the government to discuss files related to the South to come up with recommendations that contribute to its development and stability.

The African Union High-Level Committee on Libya meets in Brazzaville in the presence of Manfi.


Brazzaville: The African Union High-Level Committee on Libya held a meeting today, Monday, in the Congolese capital, Brazzaville, in the presence of the President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Manfi, at the official invitation of Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso, who chairs the committee.

Participating in the meeting will be the President of the United Republic of the Comoros, the President of the African Union, the Chairman of the African Union Commission, the Deputy Secretary of the League of Arab States, the Algerian Prime Minister, the leaders of neighboring Libyan countries, or their representatives, the Head of the United Nations Mission to Libya, and representatives of the heads of member states and governments in the African Committee on Libya.

According to the Media Office of the Presidential Council, the meeting is a mini-summit that precedes arrangements for holding a national reconciliation conference scheduled to be held in Sirte in mid-April.
