Algerian President: We are following the current developments in Libya with great interest, and we call for comprehensive national interests

Algiers- Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboune said that his country is following with great interest the current developments in some countries of the Islamic world, including Libya.

This came in a message sent by Tebboune to the participants in the works of the 17th session of the Conference of the Union of Councils of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which Algeria hosted on January 29 and 30, according to what was published by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its official Facebook page.

He affirmed that his country will always be ready to assist in the search for ways leading to consensus and stability, and will remain keen to call for comprehensive dialogue and national reconciliation.

The Libyan Center for Remote Sensing announces seismic activity off the Libyan coast

Tripoli- The Libyan Center for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences announced on Tuesday that seismic activity has occured off the Libyan coast.

The center said on its SMS page that “seismic activity took place off the Libyan coast in the Mediterranean Sea on the border of a rift between two African, European and Asian plates.” He added that the activity is followed up by researchers specialized in this field at the center through information and data from international organizations. Unfortunately, Libya’s national seismic network has been out of service for years, the centre said.

Al- Sayeh discusses with French Foreign Ministry delegation readiness of Commission

Tripoli- Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Imad Al-Sayeh, discussed, Tuesday, with a delegation from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Commission’s readiness and willingness to implement the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.

The Commission’s sources said that the meeting, which was held at the Commission’s office in Tripoli, dealt with a presentation of the capabilities available to the Commission in terms of human, technical and logistical resources that enabled it to succeed in accomplishing the electoral entitlements that it was assigned to since its establishment.

It also dealt with the difficulties and challenges that the Commission faced while carrying out its duties and responsibilities towards the aspirations of the Libyans to conduct elections characterized by fairness, transparency and credibility, and governed by internationally applicable standards and principles.

Sayeh discussed with the French delegation ways to continue technical support as a means to maintain the Commission’s readiness to implement any entitlements that are a result of political consensus and the extent of the contribution of international support provided to the Commission through the United Nations Mission in enhancing the electoral knowledge and skills of the electoral management cadres.

The delegation of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is currently on a visit to Libya, included the Director of the Department of North Africa and the Middle East, the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Anne Qiqin and the Director General of Administrative Affairs and Development at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Julien Stemmer, accompanied by the French Ambassador, Mustafa Mahrja.

Tripoli- The High Council of the State announced that it had completed sorting the files of candidates to assume leadership positions in the sovereign positions entrusted to them by the High Council of the State. Chairman of the High Electoral Commission – Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Libya – Deputy of the Administrative Control Authority – Deputy of the National Anti-Corruption Authority).

The Media Office of the High Council of the State reported that it had begun publishing the visual presentations of the candidates on its official page, which includes an introduction to each candidate and his practical biography, in addition to his work program to assume the position applied for.
