House of Representatives meets Tuesday at the House headquarters in Sirte, chaired by Speaker Aqeela Saleh

Sirte, 31 May 2022(Lana) The House of Representatives is convening in the central city of Sirte on Tuesday, chaired by the Speaker of Parliament Ageela Saleh.

During the meeting, the draft state budget bill for 2022 forwarded by the government to be decided upon by the House of Representatives.

The House meeting was expected to be Attended by the Presidency of the House of Representatives, the House Planning, Finance and Budget Committee, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Planning and Finance and a number of concerned institutions (Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Libya – Administrative Control Authority, the Audit Office, the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation and the Anti-Corruption Authority).

GNU Ministry of Interior opens office for deportation of illegal immigrants in Tripoli

Tripoli, 31May 2022 (Lana) GNU Ministry of Interior opened in Tripoli on Tuesday the office for deportation of illegal immigrants at the headquarters of the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to provide the best humanitarian services and care for immigrants.

The event was attended by GNU Interior Minister Khaled Mazen, the Head of the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency Colonel Mohammed Al-Khawaja, a number of officers, staff at offices and illegal immigration centers, and a number of non-commissioned officers of the Anti-Illegal Immigration Service.

In a speech at the opening, the Interior Minister said ‘the inauguration of this office is to organize deportation of illegal immigrants to their countries, and the Ministry of Interior is dealing with the anti-illegal immigration file in accordance with the vision and directions of the Government of National Unity, to develop crucial solutions to address this issue and reduce the flow of migrants.’

He added that ‘the ministry supports any regional or international efforts to stem the flow of migrants to Europe, provided it is not at the expense of the Libyan state.’

However, the office said the consulates of the countries of immigrants can contact the office to follow up procedures on their deportation to their countries.

US Ambassador to Libya: We will continue to assist Libya in developing its capabilities in the field of border security

Tripoli, May 31, 2022 (LANA)- The US Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, said that maintaining and controlling national borders against smugglers, human traffickers and potential terrorists is a vital job for any country.

This came during a meeting with (20) Libyan customs, passports and counter-terrorism officers who participated in a training workshop on combating smuggling, hosted by the Tunisian capital within the embassy’s export control and border security program, according to what the US embassy published on its official Facebook page.

During the meeting, the US ambassador expressed the United States’ pleasure to assist Libya in developing its border security capabilities.

Al-Mashri and the British Ambassador to Libya stress the need to reach agreed electoral laws

Tripoli- The President of the Supreme Council of State, “Khaled Al-Mashri”, accompanied by his first deputy, “Massoud Obaid”, met today, Tuesday, the British Ambassador to Libya, “Caroline Hurndall” at the council’s headquarters in the capital, Tripoli.

The two sides stressed the need to reach a constitutional basis and agreed electoral laws, which would lead to fair elections that meet the aspirations of Libyans and achieve stability.

Al-Manfi: The cooperation of municipalities with the Presidential Council is important for the success of national reconciliation and achieving stability in the country

Tripoli- The President of the Presidential Council, “Mohamed Al-Manfi,” stressed the importance of the municipalities’ cooperation with the Presidential Council in the success of national reconciliation and achieving stability in society.

This came during his meeting today, Tuesday, with the mayor of Kabau municipality, “Murad Makhlouf” and the mayor of Zuwara municipality, “Hafez Jumaa” to discuss a number of issues that concern the two municipalities, and the obstacles they face.

Al-Manfi renewed his support for all municipalities in order to provide the best services to citizens and ease the burdens of daily life for them, stressing the need to solve all the problems facing the municipalities, by looking forward to all the executive authorities with their tasks, each according to his competence.

Al-Manfi stressed the role of municipalities at this stage, as they are the closest to the citizen in facilitating access to services.

For their part, the attendees during the meeting expressed their support for the efforts of the Presidential Council in working to achieve the national reconciliation project, ending the transitional stages, by creating a legal framework for holding parliamentary and presidential elections, and with the participation of all parties to achieve the aspirations of the Libyans.

The meeting was attended by a member of the House of Representatives, “Rabia Buras”, a member of the State Council, “Shaaban Abu Sitta” and the commander of the Zuwara Operations Room, Dean “Masoud Gaffaz”.
