Agreement on a partnership contract between the Ministry of Planning and the United Nations (ESCWA)

Tripoli, During the past two days, a series of technical consultative meetings were held between the Sustainable Development Committee at the Ministry of Planning, experts from the Planning Institute and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, during which it was agreed to implement a number of One of the programs with the aim of integrating the principles of social justice into national and sectoral planning and developing policies and development plans based on equality in the State of Libya.

The meetings were chaired by Al-Taher Abu Al-Hassan, Chairman of the Sustainable Development Committee in Libya and Director General of the Planning Institute, with the participation of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning for Sustainable Development, Nouri Al-Shater, and a number of members of the Sustainable Development Committee and its specialized work teams, as well as a group of experts and specialists from the relevant sectors.

At the conclusion of the meetings, it was agreed on technical cooperation between the two parties to launch a socio-economic dialogue under the umbrella of the Sustainable Development Committee in Libya to achieve the goals of sustainable development and to include all actors and stakeholders, including civil society, the private sector, technical experts and others.

It was also agreed to develop and implement a program to train national cadres specialized in integrating social justice and equality in national and sectoral plans and programs, and to develop a program to enable young people to participate in public policies and public affairs.

The agreement included developing a program on social leadership for youth and women, linking it to entrepreneurship and small and medium enterprises, and supporting and developing mechanisms for the participation of municipalities in achieving social justice and promoting decentralization.

It was also agreed on technical cooperation to include persons with disabilities, inclusive cities, urban development, linking them to the spatial national policy, integrating the elderly and retirees into national policies and plans, and the economic empowerment of women.

The presidential legal frameworks committee is looking into the development of legal texts for the national reconciliation project.

Tripoli, The Committee on Legal Frameworks in the Presidential Council devoted its meeting today, Wednesday, to discussing the development of the provisions of the National Reconciliation Law, which achieves harmony and comprehensive reconciliation.

During the meeting, which was held at the council’s office in the capital, Tripoli, headed by the Vice-President of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, and in the presence of the Minister of Justice, Halima Al-Boussifi, and a number of specialists in the legal field, it was stressed the need to work, in addition to the side of the legal framework, on the social, religious, and media aspects. For its active role in achieving reconciliation, and a fundamental pillar to ensure the success of the national reconciliation project.

According to the Presidential Media Office, Professor of Law at Libyan Universities, Ibrahim Abu Khuzam, stressed, through the video application, the importance of the national reconciliation project, and considered it the cornerstone to ensure the success of the political process in Libya.

The participants in the meeting demanded the necessity of holding a general national conference for reconciliation, under the auspices of the Presidential Council, which is the owner of the national reconciliation project, which establishes a stable state.

Turkish Presidency: Al Dbeiba Wishes Turkish President speedy recovery from Covid-19infection.

Tripoli, A telephone contact was conducted between the Head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday.

According to the Turkish Presidency Al Dbeiba offered his wishes for a speedy recovery to President Erdogan and his wife Amina Erdogan after they were infected with the Covid-19 virus. For his part, President Erdogan’s Twitter account shared the tweet of the Turkish presidency, and extended his “sincere thanks to the Head of the Libyan Government of National Unity “for contacting me and wishing me well, as well as greeting my Libyan brothers.”
