Coordinator of UN Support Mission in Libya renews mission’s support for holding elections in accordance with political roadmap and Security Council resolutions.

Tripoli, Coordinator of UN Support Mission in Libya “Residen Zeninga” affirmed mission’s commitment to support Libyans in holding transparent and reliable elections on set time in December.

In a meeting with a group of civil society representatives in Libya, Zeninga reiterated mission’s support for holding the elections in accordance with the political roadmap and Security Council resolutions to achieve stability.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on the elections, with an emphasis that the goal of the elections should be to achieve stability and get out of the recurring political crises.

HNEC begins Monday accepting applications for candidacy for presidential and parliamentary elections.

Tripoli, The High National Elections Commission began Monday morning accepting applications for candidacy for the presidential elections in the branches of the commission in Tripoli, Benghazi, and Sebha and the candidacy for parliament in all branches of the commission.

The Commission noted that the process of accepting documents continues in these headquarters until four o’clock in the afternoon. Presenting the candidacy files, a number of candidates expressed their satisfaction with the positive atmosphere and good organization that they found in the headquarters of accepting the documents for candidacy, expressing hope that the twenty-fourth of December will be reached and the elections awaited by the Libyan people will be held.

In statements to the Libyan News Agency, the candidates and their delegates unanimously agreed that the process of submitting documents is carried out in a smooth manner and in a positive atmosphere, and that the employees, when receiving the candidate, make sure that the documents required for candidacy are completed according to the High National Elections Commission circulation.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Elections Commission, Imad al Sayeh announced yesterday in a press conference held at the headquarters of the Commission in the capital, Tripoli, that acceptance of applications for candidacy for the presidential elections will be limited to the branches of the Commission in Tripoli, Benghazi and Sebha, and will continue until November 22, while applications for nominations for the elections of the House of Representatives will continue to be accepted until 7 December 2021.

Spanish Ambassador to Libya: A large number of Spanish companies are seeking to return to Libya to resume their suspended projects.

Tripoli Spanish Ambassador to Libya Javier Larachi confirmed on Sunday that a large number of Spanish companies wanted to return to Libya to resume their suspended projects.

“Some Spanish companies like Repsol have not left the country and others are already willing or are going to return to work in Libya,” Larachi said in a press release.

The Spanish ambassador stressed that any progress in stability on the Libyan scene will help us a lot to cooperate in pushing this issue between the two countries, noting that his government is considering the issue of these companies at the moment.

The President and members of the Algerian National Assembly receive Deputy “Moussa Al-Koni” during his visit to the Assembly.

Algiers, Deputy President of the Presidential Council, “Moussa Al-Koni” visited Monday evening, the Algerian National Assembly.

He was received by the Speaker of the Council “Saleh Quwain” and the members of the Council who praised the steps taken by Representative “Musa al-Koni” regarding the elections file, and his confirmation that they will be held on December 24th.

The Algerian National Assembly Speaker affirmed his country’s readiness, government and people, to support the Libyan people in achieving their aspirations by holding the elections on time, and electing a president to take the helm of the country and bring it to safety.

In turn, Al-Koni praised the Algerian government’s support for the Libyan people and its support in the ordeals they went through, praising Algeria’s experience in the democratic path and benefiting from it to ensure the success of the elections scheduled for next December.

Greece calls for the joint French-Italian presidency of the Paris conference on Libya.

Rome, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias announced that during his meeting in Rome with his Italian counterpart, Luigi Di Maio, the need for a “French-Italian joint presidency of the Paris meeting” on Libya scheduled for November 12 current, according to the Italian agency AKI.

Dendias said, in a statement to reporters today, Monday, that this would “give a clear and frank indication for the withdrawal of foreign fighters and mercenaries, and also for the holding of elections” in Libya as scheduled on the twenty-fourth of next December.

And the French Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, had announced earlier that “the President of the French Republic will host an international conference on Libya in Paris on November 12 in order to “give the final international momentum required to support the holding of elections at the end of the year, and to contribute to establishing favorable conditions.” to conduct it and to respect its results.

Le Drian indicated – as quoted by the French Foreign Ministry – that the conference, which “will be organized in close cooperation with the United Nations and will be co-chaired by France, Italy and Germany”, will be held according to “a broad format that includes the countries neighboring Libya for the first time, the Libyan transitional authorities and heads of state and government of countries”. which was invited to the two previous Berlin conferences, and will “adopt the Libyan plan aimed at withdrawing foreign forces and foreign mercenaries from Libyan territory, and will accompany its implementation, with a view to ending foreign interference.”

HNEC: Application process for candidates is going well on its second day.

Tripoli, Submission of nomination applications for candidates for presidential and House of Representatives elections that will take place on December 24, 2021, is continuing for the second day running, at the headquarters of the High National Elections Commission.

HNEC Director for Awareness and Communication Department, Khaled Al-Mannai, told Lana reporter, that the process is going well, as we received today the statistics on the number of candidates for the election of the House of Representatives, totaling (70) candidates for the thirteen main constituencies.

No presidential candidacy was registered from the group that submitted their applications due to the failure to fulfill their requests, and they were asked to return after preparing their requirements well.

Al-Mannai said in his statement that through the platform of the agency, which is part of the Libyan component, we call on all citizens and voters to receive their cards from the card distribution centers that opened yesterday, as the turnout was above average, indicating that the distribution centers will be at the service of the citizen daily. From (14:00) to (18:00) except on Friday, and without the card, no citizen will be able to vote on the election day.

On the sidelines of submitting the candidates’ applications, a number of parliament candidates stressed to Lana reporter their determination to contribute to building the nation, elevating the citizen and providing all services to all segments of Libyan society, and that they would be at the service of the people.
