Head of Government of National Unity Welcomes Re-opening of German Embassy in Tripoli.

Tripoli, The Head of the Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba has welcomed reopening of the German Embassy in Tripoli, which he described as another positive step down the road to stability.

Al Dbeiba said he was delighted to meet the German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas who started a visit to Tripoli on Thursday to attend the embassy reopening ceremony.

On his part, the German Foreign Minister said at the meeting ‘we will continue to work for peace in Libya, and we want Libya to carry on down this road, and for this to happen the elections and the withdrawal of foreigners are essential steps, the outcome of Berlin 1 and 2 must be implemented.’

Head of Government of National Unity Arrives in Tunisia.

Tunis, A spokesman for the Government of National Unity Mohamed Hamouda said Thursday that Head of the Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba has arrived in Tunisia this afternoon for an official visit.

The Prime Minister is expected to discuss bilateral relations and possible re-opening of land crossing and air flights between the two countries.

Foreign Minister Najla Al Mangoush Takes Part in Arab League Meeting.

Tripoli, GNU Foreign Minister Najla Al Mangoush on Thursday took part in the Arab League’s 156th session at the level of foreign ministers, chaired by Kuwait, the current chairman of the council.

The Ministers discuss a number of topics on the agenda of the meeting, including the Palestinian issue, developments in Libya, as well as development of the situation in Syria, Yemen and Lebanon. The agenda also includes aviation security, energy supplies in the Gulf region.

Also on the agenda of the meeting, provisions related to peace and development in Sudan, the Comoro Islands, the Arab-African cooperation, and Arab-European Dialogue.

President of Presidency Council Meets German Foreign Minister.

Tripoli, President of Presidency Council Mohamed Al Mnefi on Thursday received at his office German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas and the accompanying delegation who arrived earlier for a visit to Libya to discuss political developments in the country.

The meeting which was attended by the German Ambassador focused on elections and peaceful transition of power, as well as the mercenaries and foreign fighters file and support for the Council.

The President paid tribute to the German diplomacy for rendering the Berlin 1 and 2 a success through pushing of the political process. He highlighted the reopening of the German Embassy in Tripoli which he said will push joint exchange and cooperation in various areas.

The German Foreign Minister on his part said his country would continue to help push the political process in Libya and said he looked to hear how German efforts in Libya are being evaluated, appreciating Council’s effort for national reconciliation.

He said his country was prepared to continue to work with the international community to back up Presidency Council’s efforts to fulfill all current entitlements.

German Ambassador to Libya: Progress is being Made and We Want Libya Continue in This Path.

Tripoli, German Ambassador to Libya Mikhael Onmachat said German Foreign Minister’s visit to Libya which comes two day after he was accredited as an ambassador oh his country was a sign of healthy German- Libyan relations and German support for stability in Libya.

The Ambassador tweeted ‘Proud of the warm welcome for the Foreign Minister’, ‘we are witnessing good progress in the country, and we want Libya to continue on this path, and for this to happen the elections and the withdrawal of foreigners are essential subsequent steps.’

The Ambassador said the outcome of Berlin 1 and 2 must be implemented.
