The President of the Transitional Military Council in Chad and the Prime Minister of Italy discuss the Libyan crisis by phone.

Rome,  Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi discussed by phone with the head of the Transitional Military Council in Chad, Mohamed Idriss Deby, a number of issues, including the Libyan crisis.

The Italian Prime Minister said in a statement that the two sides exchanged over the phone views on the stability of the Sahel region, with special reference to the Libyan crisis, as well as the challenges posed by terrorism and the issue of combating illegal trade, according to what was published by the Italian news agency AKI.

In this context, the Italian and European commitment to the security and socio-economic development of Chad and the region as a whole was discussed, according to the Italian government.
