President of Presidential Council in an interview with Reuters: Serious steps taken in Libya towards settlement over December elections.

PARIS, Serious steps are being taken in Libya towards a settlement over elections scheduled for December as part of a peace process, presidential council president Mohamed Al Mnefi said.

“We must be optimistic and hope that there will be elections on set time, by consensus of Libyans on December 24th,” Al Mnefi said in an interview with Reuters.

“We are trying as much as possible to end this process in a democratic, transparent and acceptable manner to all Libyans on December 24th, so that we hand over power to an elected authority and that there are no differences over the candidates, to whom the provisions of the electoral laws apply,” he said.
