Cairo, Work of the preparatory meetings of the 11th Libyan-Egyptian Joint High Committee began in Cairo this morning, at the expert level, with the aim of discussing ways to enhance joint relations between the two brotherly countries, in light of historical relations and the possibilities available to develop relations in all fields.

The Libyan delegation is headed by the Ministry of Economy and Trade, with the participation of representatives of the Ministries of Transportation, Housing, Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Planning, Economic Affairs, Interior, Culture and Knowledge Development, Finance, Civil Service, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Technical Education, Agriculture and Marine Wealth, Sports, Labor and Rehabilitation, and representatives of the General Electricity Company, and the Telecom Holding Company.

The Egyptian delegation at the expert level is headed by the Ministry of International Cooperation, and a number of ministries and stakeholders are participating, including the ministries of higher education, scientific research, education, technical education, health, population, manpower, petroleum, mineral wealth, housing, utilities, urban communities, communications, information technology, transportation, youth, sports, planning, economic development, electricity and aviation, as well as representatives of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority and the Electricity Holding Company.

During the expert meetings, the two sides discussed mechanisms for developing relations between the two countries, overcoming all obstacles that prevent this, and exchanging experiences in the fields of investment promotion and studying available investment opportunities, as well as discussing the formation of the Egyptian-Libyan Joint Business Council.

The experts from the Libyan and Egyptian sides also discussed a number of documents and agreements proposed to be signed, during the work of the Egyptian-Libyan Joint Higher Committee headed by the prime ministers of the two countries.

It is noteworthy that the work of the Libyan-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee had held ten sessions before, the last of which was in December 2009. Egypt and Libya are bound by a wide range of agreements, protocols, memoranda of understanding and executive programs covering all areas of cooperation between the two countries, amounting to about 60 documents.
