Head of National Unity Government meets heads of general unions in higher education.

Tripoli, The Head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Al Dbeiba met today, Thursday, at the University of Tripoli, the heads of general unions in higher education, presidents of universities, deans of colleges and university faculty members, in the presence of the Ministers of Higher Education and Finance, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Technical Education.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister announced that the Ministry of Finance had made a salary settlement for university faculty members, which included (14,614) thousand in various Libyan universities, with a total amount of (17 million and 522) thousand dinars, and these procedures have been suspended since 2016.

The Prime Minister also announced the allocation of a special card for the university students in which an amount of (500) dinars is deposited as a scholarship for the student, which will be raised with the improvement of the financial conditions of the country and the stability of its institutions.

The Prime Minister said that the University of Tripoli, which was once a target for shelling, is now safe and calm, and we are starting to feel comfortable and that raising the salaries of university faculty members is not a great job compared to what they do in preparing generations that contribute to building the state and its institutions.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister called for the return of students to the study halls and university faculty members to their colleges, stressing that the faculty members and teachers is one of the government’s priorities to improve their situation in particular.
