Head of Department of Antiquities and French Ambassador to Libya discuss cooperation in the field of antiquities

Tripoli,-The Head of the Antiquities Department of the Government of National Unity Mohamed Faraj, met in the capital, Tripoli, the French Ambassador to Libya, “Mustafa Maharraj.

The Communication and Media Office of the Authority stated, through its Facebook page, that the meeting reviewed aspects of cooperation between the two countries in the field of cultural heritage and ways to support and develop joint work in the fields of study, restoration and maintenance of archaeological sites, and combating illicit trafficking in cultural property.

According to the same source, the meeting was attended by the head of the scientific committee of the rehabilitation project of the National Museum, the director of the communication office of the authority, and the cultural counsel at the French embassy.

For his part, the Ambassador to France, Mustafa Maharaj expressed his happiness with the visit of the head of the Department of Antiquities in his office in the old city of the capital, Tripoli.

The Ambassador said in a tweet “we exchanged prospects of Libyan-French cooperation in the field of antiquities, modernizing the Tripoli Museum, and combating trafficking in archaeological property.
