Egypt welcomes the outcomes of Aqila and Al-Mishri meeting

Tripoli – Egypt welcomed the agreement of the House of Representatives and High Council of State to refer the draft constitutional document to the two councils for approval, with the aim of completing the procedures represented in electoral laws, executive procedures, and unifying the Libyan institutions, describing this as an important step in terms of moving forward towards holding presidential and parliamentary election as soon as possible.

Official Spokesman of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Abu Zeid, praised, in a statement published on the SMS page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the role of the two councils in carrying out their responsibilities, noting that the path of the two councils constitutional committee, whose rounds began in Cairo last April under the auspices of the UN, is the main path that represents the will of the Libyan people, as it came with exclusive Libyan ownership by the competent Libyan institutions, with the aim of fulfilling all frameworks that allow the implementation of a political settlement towards the future, expressing aspiration for the two councils to complete the rest of their tasks in the coming period.

Abu Zeid concluded his statements, stressing that Egypt will always remain supportive of the choices of the Libyan people, and support for the role of the Libyan institutions, that leading to achieve security, stability, and unity of Libya, and exit all foreign forces, mercenaries and foreign fighters from its territories, and protecting its sovereignty and capabilities of the Libyan people in implementation Security Council resolutions and the relevant outputs of Paris and Berlin tracks.
