An official at Japanese Foreign Ministry briefed on HNEC readiness for the upcoming elections:

Chairman of the High National Elections Commission, Imad Al-Sayeh, received, Tuesday, the Director of the North Africa and Middle East Department at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kansuke Nagaoka.

The Commission said that Al-Sayeh discussed with the Japanese official the latest developments of the electoral process, the development of its stages and the levels of technical and advisory support that enhances the Commission’s readiness to implement the upcoming elections.

After the meeting, the Japanese official and his accompanying delegation toured some of the Commission’s facilities to see the Commission’s readiness for the next election, appreciating the efforts made by the Commission to conduct elections.

It is noteworthy that Japan signed an agreement with the United Nations Development Program in Libya in October 2021, under which it commits to pay $1.8 million to support the United Nations project to promote elections in Libya.
