Tripoli-President of Presidency Council, Fayez Al Sarraj held Thursday talks in Tripoli with UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres covering developments in Libya and cooperation prospects between the GNA, and UN agencies and institutions.Guterres was accompanied in his visit by Under-Secretary General for Political and Peace Building Affairs, Rosemary Dicarlo, Ghassan Salame the UN envoy to Libya. GNA Foreign Minister, Mohamed Siala and the Political Advisor to the President Serraj has also attended the meeting. According to Presidency Council Communications and Media Office, Al Serraj welcomed the visit of the UN Secretary General and for giving a priority to the Libyan file, and briefed him on the situation in Libya and the current crisis with all its political, security and economic dimensions. He also praised the positive role played by UNSMIL and other international institutions and agencies. Guterres stressed at the meeting that there is a real opportunity to realize stability in Libya thanks to the efforts of the president and his continued eneadours to realize reconciliation among the Libyan parties, wishing success to the National Gathering Conference due to be held mid-April based on the initiative of his Special Representative Ghassan Salame to put the foundations for stable political phase. UN Secretary General expressed profound concern over recent military maneuvers and the peril of break out of confrontations in Libya, stressing that there will be no military solution and dialogue among Libyans is the only solution to address the crisis. The two sides agreed that the proposed initiatives be under UN umbrella. The talks covered several cooperation files between Libya, and the international organizations including illegal immigrations.
