The Arab League on Tuesday confirmed it has not been asked to mediate between Lebanon and Libya, in the wake of the latter's boycott of the Arab Economic Summit to be held in Beirut next Sunday.
Libya announced its boycott of the Summit in the wake of tearing its country's flag in Lebanon.
The official spokesman of the Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Mahmoud Afifi, said: "Libya has officially announced its boycott of the summit in the wake of the burning of its country's flag by 'Amal movement' in Beirut."
Afifi deemed the flag tearing incident as "regrettable."
