Rome, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conti has called for respect of Libya's sovereignty and non-intervention in its affairs. In remarks before the Palermo Conference which his country hosted over the last couple of days, Conti said the issue regarding how and when elections should be held rested with Libyans and their representatives. No solutions should be imposed from without, he said. As for what happened between Libyan antagonists at Palermo, Conti said 'I know that specific demands have been made during technical meetings held yesterday, but we are prepared to play a constructive role at the level of training Libyan forces.
