Manama, The second edition of Nasser bin Hamad Scientific Research Award in the field of sports ceremony is all set to take place tomorrow.
Sofitel Hotel, based in Zallaq, will embrace the awards night, which commences at 6.30pm, when the winners of the award different categories will be finally honored.
The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), the organisers of the awards night, has made all arrangements in preparation for the event, to be held under the patronage of His Majesty the Kingrepresentative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The prize covers three categories �sports management, sports medicine and sports training.
The award is in line with the Bahrain Olympic Committee strategy to develop sports movement in the Kingdom, in accordance to scientific standards based on specialized scientific research.
This first-of-its-kind award in the Kingdom is an incentive for researchers to explore their creativities in the field of sports, which has become a fertile ground to take sports into broad prospects that has surpassed old concept surface to become one of the leading industries.
The main objectives of this award is to promote positive trends towards scientific research to knowledge industry, and contribute to developing sport movement, and honour Bahrain's scientific research pioneers.
Winners of the first edition of the award were Ahmed Mubarak Salem and Dr. Mervat Amin Desooqi.
Also on the sidelines of the award, a forum on Scientific Research in Sports Economics will take place as part of the main awards ceremony, with a group of experts in the field of sports to be in the fray. The forum is due to take place from May 3 to 5 at Wyndham Grand Hotel.
